How to retrieve problem codes on a 1995 dodge dakota

Without a scanner insert the key in to the ignition turn the ignition to on then off then on again then if again and then on do not crank the engine do this within seconds and then look for the check engine light to flash. 1 pause follow by two flashes is code 12 when there aren't any more codes to display the light will flash 5 times pause and flash 5 more times this is 55 indicating that the process is complete.

What does a Dodge Dakota Fault Code P35FE means or signifies

Generally, PCM (Powertrain Control Module) fault codes are showed as Pxxxx. Codes are displayed on the odometer.

On some cars, the codes will read out if the engine light is on - all you have to do is put the key into the RUN position.

Normally, to get codes, you put the key on OFF and then rapidly do OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON (on some cars you have to do four or five, not three, OFF-ON cycles). To know about means description, visit OBD Fault Codes.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

Where on the 93 Dodge Dakota do I find the spot for the code reader? under hood or engine compartment?

That is an OBD1 System

Your code reader won't work

You need OBD1 capable reader or
the adapter for an older scan tool

The connector is in the engine compartment

If you need to know where, I will look in my
1992 manual as I departed with my Dakota
june last year.

If you get code I will look them up for you
or tell me the problem your having.

I think the connector is hanging near the
A/C expansion valve on pass side

Check engine light came on took to Oreilly's to test and they could not find plug in for check ?? Where is it

The 1995 dakota you can get the codes
by cycling the key tree time in the accesory position
like this
turn on
turn off
turn on
turn off
turn on
on the last one leave it on
now watch your check engine light
it will begin to flash
this will give you a 2 digit code
count the flashes then it will pause and flash again
put these two digits together and you will have that code
if there is more than one code it will began to flash again do the same and count them
once you get your codes come back and post them for me and Ill be glad to help you know what they mean
hope this helps

Dash warning light

on the 93 there is a problem with the abs system. there are several things that could be wrong. if i remember correctly the module is behind the passenger side kick panel. you will find a single wire coming off the module. if you ground it then turn on the key it will flash the brake lights in the dash. count the flashes this is the code for the error. it will help in the repair. as for the second truck you have a leak that needs repaired.
