Sounds like the car is running off of the battery alone. I would check the alternator first, then check all the connections in your charging system.

check your radio fuses-one under hood and another under dashboard.usually after power cut you have to re-enter radio security code to get it going again most car scanners can retrieve it if you don't have on.

Put new battery in 1989 firebird 3 months ago. Battery kept dying and would have to jump over and over. Then, car died while driving and would not start even after jumping the battery. Replaced the...

I would want to know if you have at least 12 volts at the battery posts, and also at the starter. You need to know if the cables are causing the problem, or something else.
Once the engine starts, it should be running off the alternator, but it still needs the battery in the circuit.

Will not start battery and alternator is good will only start if jumped and shuts off while running after car is jumped started.

Make SURE battery and alternator are good because battery starts the car but car runs on alternator power once its started. If alternator is not putting out the power needed, car will die once the battery power is dead or removed.

My car started dying and now hasnt enough charge to start

sound like bad battery cables.replace them.the positive battery cable is old and have a lot of resistance not allowing power to the alternator to charge battery.if battery cable good check alternator connector wires.make sure they are not damage also check alternator fuse and fuse link.turn off radio before removing battery wires so you wont lose radio code.
