Question about Chevrolet Cargo

4 Answers

I have a 93 Chevy conversion van with a 350 engine. I think it is a C20 5.7 liter. I couldn't find the model listed in the drop down menu. I stopped at a store and when I restarted the van the AC wouldn't work nor would the fan for it. The electric windows wouldn't move. I drove off and only had 1st and 2nd gears (it's an automatic transmission). I tried to manually shift to drive and overdrive with no luck. At that point I realized the speedometer and odometer weren't working either. All these went out at the same time. The battery is fine. The ground from the battery is good. The fuse panel under the dash is fine. I think it has to be something electrical for all this to happen. Can anyone give me ideas what to do?

Maybe the security system is the culprit, because the battery is fine, the body ground is good, the fuse is good that is the symptom.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Itsound like a vacuum problem. Does air then blow from the defrost vent when under load? Find the vacuum reservoir and make sure it is connected to vacuum and doesn't leak. Under load an engine has none or less vacuum than when at idle or steady state cruise. It has less vacuum since the throttle is open (or wide open) and manifold pressure is closer to atmospheric pressure. Think, whenever the throttle is closed and you have a cylinder on the intake stroke, (intake valve open, piston going down drawing in air/fuel.) the throttle blade acts like a restriction to atmospheric pressure and the piston creates a "void" or negative pressure in the intake manifold. With the throttle open you have less restriction and equalize the pressure inside and outside of the engine hence less vacuum. That is why on a hill under load and have a leaking vacuum reservoir you lose that negative pressure and the hvac defaults ( goes to defrost or the normal position)

Thanks
Good luck

yes it can cause.A worn sensor may cause a skip or drop in the reading when the throttle opens, If the TPSis open, the computer will think the throttle is closed all the time as its faulty and engine will not get start up. thanks.

Chevy 350 express van 2000 runs great idles rough

If it does not do it in park or neutral, it could be a number of things. One being a sticking Torque Converter Clutch solenoid (TCC). It could be that it needs a simple tune-up. How often does this problem happen?

Transmission for 1988, 350, conversion van

A turbo400 trans will bolt up but you will have to change the drive shaft as the output shaft is longer than the 350 trans. There will be no trans exchange with a different type that will fit without some modifications.

1996 Chevy Express 1500 w/5.0 bogging only when warm.

The cylinder 7 misfire is likely a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.

Typically, the catalytic converter has an oxygen sensor in front and behind it. When the vehicle is warm and running in closed loop mode, the upstream oxygen sensor waveform reading should fluctuate. The downstream 02 sensor reading should be fairly steady. Typically the P0420 code triggers the check engine light if the readings of the two sensors are similar. This is indicative of (among other things - such as faulty sensors in the "emissions loop") a converter that is not working as efficiently as it should be.

I do not believe that it is a problem with a valve/head gasket or cam.
