Just replaced the battery. After one week, the battery is dead. The alternator was replaced last year. After recharging the battery, all the lights, controls and gauges are flickering on and off. Not sure what the problem is

Alternators can and do fail, even after a year-you should have at least 14 volts when the car is running, at the battery. Because you say you are getting a flickering, I would check connections at the battery (they need to be really clean, the battery posts AND the insides of the clamps). Also, check the connection at the starter and the ground to the engine from the battery-after you know you are getting that 14 volts at the battery while the car is at idle.

y/n, if no charge it. you do know 1/2 dead battery runs HL ok but never a starter. so is not a valid test unless HD look DIM.
so learn to use a $10 voltmeter and all this is easy. stuff.
ok, battery is charged
did you try jumper cable jump starting it, if not why not?
anything else.
so that to me means the cab is dead.
the dash lamps all out.
key on.
so you blew fuses. fact.
front and rear boxes. check all fuses.

bingo !

when you replace any alternator/starter the battery minus lug must be pulled first.
if not you get blown fuses.
or worse a bath in Sulfuric acid or set blind for life.
did you mess that up>?

2010 G37 - battery was dead - jumped it off and drove it for twenty minutes. Next morning it wouldn't start and now it wont stop clicking (like a relay). Any suggestions?

if the battery goes dead or low it must be recharged with a charger, driving the car will not recharge it properly. The alternator is only meant to maintain the battery, not recharge it. Get the battery recharged and verified and then try again.

Brake and battery light on new battery and alternator installed

Wouldn't be a fuse, but it seems as if the alternator is still not putting out normal power, or else your battery has a problem taking a charge. Better have the battery tested for a dead cell. also see what a voltmeter says about alternator output now. If you have an electrical problem in the wiring somewhere or in the alt. charging controls, then possibly one or more of the diodes in the alternator may got burnt out. That means the alternator puts out less power.
On some newer cars, the engine computer, pcm, controls the rate of charge of the alternator. So you have to be careful diagnosing -know how your system operates. That's why mechanics always ask for year, make, model, and engine size if applicable.

2002 Rav4 Battery Keeps Draining, Could this be a short?

check for bare wires starting at the battery and move toward alternator. if a bare wire touches the car body it will kill the battery. basically check whatever wires you can see. otherwise, get an obd-II tester and see what code it gives you

Battery keeps going dead. Put new one in.

You have a Drain on your Battery. The Nominal drain during the night is 50mA. Anything more than that and you have a issue.

Put a Multi-Meter on your Battery (Between your Battery and your One Terminal's and then one on the Wire itself (Disconnect the NEGATIVE Clamp). MEasure the AMPERAGE DRAW...

Then disconnect one fuse at a time and if the number does not go down. When you get the DRAMATIC DROP, then you have found what system has the draw (test all just for a Piece of mind).

Then once you discovered which system, then you need to dig into that system to define it down to the problem and fix it and then you will have your issue resolved.

Good Luck

1993 buick lesabre shut off while driving, battery was dead then bought a new battery drove well for 3 weeks then shut off while driving again had to jumpstart it.

Your alternator is bad. It's not recharging the battery as you are driving. The car is using battery voltage until it is all used up and then the engine dies. Replace the alternator and recharge the battery.

Alternator keeps going out

Have your battery checked before you put any more alternators in the car. If your battery has a dead cell or just needs replaced it could be making your alternators cover too much slack and burning them up.

THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON TO ALERT YOU TO THE FACT THAT THE BATTERY IS NOT BEING CHARGED BY THE ALTERNATOR, IT DOESN'T MEAN THE BATTERY HAS A PROBLEM, HAVE THE ALTERNATOR TESTED FOR PROPER OPERATION.

Daughter's 1999 Jetta; smelled burnt rubber when leaving work last week. Car ran fine. Yesterday, started squealing (sounded like belt slipping) when started. Later in day, she turned car off and sat with...

It sounds like the alternator belt or the alternator is going bad. The squealing sound was probably the alternator belt. the alternator belt might need to get tightened or replaced or you may need a new alternator. The alternator keeps the battery charged. When the alternator goes bad the battery can not be recharged. You also should keep the power steering fluid up to par or the power steering will go bad on you.
