    MY girlfriends 2002 Dodge Neon SXT wont go over 50mph and the check engine light is on.

Your transmission is not shifting into overdrive, it is staying in 3rd gear. I have the same problem.

may have alternator problems cheak to make sure not over charging not over 14 amps under 12.7
