As it is about 25years old, I would check for a broken/corroded wire in the loom.

Find out the total cost with no trade in.
After you dicker and get a price then if you have a trade then ask what kind of deal you can make. I find I sometimes can make more money if I sell the used car privately.

Watch what you say If he suggests something and it is going to cost more than you want Don't make remarks like you agree with what he says.
Check tires and see if you can get new ones in the deal if needed
I checked the battery some where else and it was on its last legs and They replaced it when I told them. They let me go for a drive.
If you and your partner are talking in the next room be very careful what you say to each other
Like if you say well we can afford a little more if we need to.
The dealers have microphones hidden in all the rooms quite often.
In the end I said to my dealer Well I had planned on paying x dollars so If you cover the tax we have a deal. I was lucky he said tell you what I will look after half. It worked for me. If you tell them you have a trade right off the start they jack the price of the new car up so you think you are getting a real deal. Now if you are dealing a newer car that is a different story.

I think - both sides parts would be about $50-$70 for labor would be $100-$300. Dealership is highest labor, a local tire shop or fix-it gas station would be more reasonably priced.

The parts will cost you near to $200 and then the labor for replacement added together according to the area you live in. Usually it will cost you around $300.
