If it is the check engine light, you would need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes.
And it should be staying on when the engine is running.

do the engine rpm's go up just not the speed? if so its the transmission slipping

It can mean one of two things. Either your oil level is too low, meaning more than 1 quart, or your pressure is too low. The first thing to do is check the oil level in the engine and top it up. If the light goes out after this then everything is okay. If the light stays on you should get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical guage to get an accurate reading.

Get this done as soon as possible. Manufacturers don't give you much room with these lights, when they come on you are very close to the engine meltdown point. Hope this helps.

Sounds like maybe choke adjustment or accelerator pump adjustment or replacement required. Rochester 4 barrel carb , I presume.

Usually when this happens it is due to a relay in your fuse box failing. There are 1 or 2 relays which turns the constant flow of electricity to your lights to intermittent when you use your blinkers. If the light is constant when you use your blinkers the solution will be to replace the faulty relay.

make sure you cheak the fuses they should be under the dash by your feet(i have a 1993 deville and the fusebox is by the E-Break) if any look burned either replace them with the EXACT same model (the wrong fuse might cause a fire) if you're not sure have someone else do it

try calling a junkyard and see if they will tell you the enterchange ok good luck

neither the 93 seville is just that it's the 4.9 liter before the northstar sts 4.6 came out in same year
