How do you change a fuel pump in a 2003 chevy avalanche?

Drop the fuel tank. (hopefully it is just about empty) on top of tank unplug power plug disconnect fuel lines and remove locking ring on top of pump unit, lift pump up out of tank. replace in opposite order. It really is that easy if the tank is empty as you can do it all with no jack . I did my yukon xl in about a hour but i had a friend handing me whatever i yelled for. I also removed the rear driveshaft so i would have plenty of room to sit up under the truck and god was that nice. Make sure you support the rear axle up with jackstands, yes jack rear of truck off the ground.

Remove the gas tank to get to the pump
