Every problem I have had with my car seems to occurr when it is raining. I have replaced the battery and the starter. Just recently while waiting for someone I noticed the dashboard lights go dim and then the car shut off. I charged the battery for a few minutes and it started right away but shut off again at the end of the parking lot. Tried it the next morning without a boost and it started at the first turn of the key. Took it to the garage and they can't find anything wrong with it. Wondering if anyone else has problems in the rain?
What you can do to diagnose this issue is - take an old spray bottle
(some kind of house cleaning solution), clean it out really well (so
nothing flammable is in it) and fill it with water. Then, pop the hood
to your car, start the engine, and squirt different parts of your
engine until you squirt an engine part that causes your car to shut
off... then you know that's the problem part!
I had the same issue with my
husband's car. We determined that it was the distributor cap, which we
purchased at Auto Zone and replaced on our own for like $30.
