The humming noise is when you reach a certain speed approx 50 to 60 km/hr and continues until you slow down. I am getting the same mileage and it is not struggling.

The noise is most likely your roof rack if you have one. my tracker does the same thing (2000) and i think its the roof rack. im used to it now anddont mind the extra outside noise as it works well along with my Deer Alert wistles to help avoid deer hits.

I have 2000 chevy blazer and it sounds like a humming noise and it is lounder when i am going faster and lower when preparing to stop

My first thought is the drive train, most likely a wheel bearing. That could easily be the problem if you are describing a constant noise that is noticeable when you start out and get louder at a constant rate until, at 65 mph you wonder if you will make it home. I can't be sure without more info, but it is easy to diagnose. Jack up each wheel, one at a time, and spin it by hand. You should be able to locate a bad bearing. I hope this helps. Dan

My 98 chevy malibu makes a howling noise. it does this driving down the road and also setting still while the engine is still running. it sounds like the noise is coming from the gas tank. could it...

if its coming from the gas tank area the only thing i can think of would be the fuel pump..they make a little humming sound, but if its making a howling sound it might be going bad. does this help?
