This site is in reference to a recall on 2000 Alero hazard and blinker lights. Not sure if this is your problem, but I am having multiple electrical failures on my 2000 Olds. Alero, and these are amoung two of my problems. Others being: Rear defrost not working, break lights intermitently failing(while the trunk brake light works), elecronic side mirrors not responding. I had a window regulator replaced in Norfolk, VA, and then my door locks didn't work. So, I made them fix the door locks, and then I started to notice all of these other issues. Unfortuanately it is a bit after the fact now. There is a fuse panel on the drivers side of the dash. Open the door, pull off the panel. There is a diagram stating which fuse is which, and there are extra fuses. Also, there are fuses within the engine. I am told though, these are expensive, so make sure you test them and don't just go replacing one because it says it is realated to your light issue. It could always be a loose wire. I have checked my fuses, but need a wiring diagram to see where these issues all have a path in common without effecting the door locks.

my problem was while driving, my radio went out and allmy warning lights came on. i stopped and turned off the ignition. turned back on, lights finally went out, but still no radio and all the gages arent moving. is this an electrical problem

Also, aparently most of these electrical issues are due to the multipurpose switch located on the steering column. I was told replacing this would fix most of my listed problems.

2003 Olds Alero keeps blowing fuse For dash and tail lights

Likely there's a wire loose that's shorting to the chassis. The way I troubleshoot these is to put a lightbulb in the fuse socket, and then go under the dash, and move stuff around while somebody watches the light. When it goes on, you're close to the problem. Yeah, it's a royal pain, but that's the best way I know.

Does it crank over? Do you have dash lights? Is there fuel in the tank? Have you checked to see if you have fuel pressure? Is the check engine light on? SOOOO many possibilities could be causing it to not start

Check to make sure the Security light in dash on right hand corner is not on. If it is on , your passlock is enabled. to dissable it turn your key on but not start it and wait for apx 10-15 minutes. this should re-set it.

you are going to have to take the dash apart. You probably have a short in the connector where it comes into the gauge cluster

Had similar problem with wifes alero, Turned out to be the alternator. Seems that the car freaks out when not enought power is supplied. Take to autostore and have them test it. Free test, $130 part. Easy to install with basic socket set.
