unlikely but possible
run then fault codes to determine the problem area
a leaking vacuum hose to the brake booster will do that so check for tight hose clamps

EGR Flow Insufficient Detected.
Maybe there is lots of carbon build up on the EGR valve. Remove it and try cleaning it.

1998 plymouth breeze: Engine light on. Code reads exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected. Code is P0401. What does this mean?

EGR system failure. The negative battery cable must be removed first. The EGR is the system under the hood, between the fuse box and the block. The TCM Looks kind of like a radiator, and needs to be removed to access the EGR valve. It has two vaccumn hoses connecting it to the vaccuum system, make sure you keep track of where they connect to. Loosena nd removed the bolts holding the EGR, and gently remove the EGR valve.
Remove the old gasket and replace with a new one, install the new EGR and finger tighten the bolts. Make sure the vaccuum hoses are placed back on (label them if needed), once you have ensure that you have everything installed properly, then tighten the bolts on the EGR to 200 ft. lbs. Re-install the TCM and connectors, reconnect teh battery and you should be good to go.

My 1996 Plymouth Breeze failed the CO% and the NOppm tests. What will cause these 2 tets to fail? CO%limit is 0.35 reading was 0.39 NO ppm limit is 467 reading was812 The above readings are for an Emission...

Lots of carbon in the cylinders,EGR valve not working,a dirty or leaking fuel injector,to far advanced timing.

Run 2 cans of fuel injector in 1/2 tank of gas and run it as low as you can before refueling.

I would set the timing back 5 degrees and test again,put it into service mode (check engine light on) if you have to to get timing back to cool combustion for the test.

This should lower the no% and the co% may just pass too.

Do not use premium fuel ( which is just slower burning fuel) when doing etests,or for normal driving if your engine does not require it,
It will cause carbon deposits in the combustion chamber and it will almost always give higher readings when etesting.

well nanifold is part of the emission and the egr repair both and save time re e testing it! you want it to go through first time with the above wrong it wont pass!!
