My car would not start. The fuel level was low...I thought I was out of gas. Added gas from 1 gallon can twice. Engine cranks but does not start. I was thinking of replacing the fuel pump but this makes me think that won't solve the problem. Any ideas? mcseford@gmail.com

Passat 1.9 TDi motor AFN 1999. It will not start.

if it is not a common rail, loosen fuel injector lines and see if fuel sqirtsfrom them when engine is cranked over,if no fuel comes out try "bleeding"air from the fuel system via the lift/priming pump and the bleeder screw usually located on top of the fuel filter,if you do have fuel sqirting om the lines when cranked, check out the "glow plug"system,if this system is faulty, use "starting fluid/either"" to start motor and check for other faults

My 2002 lincoln ls starts fine when cold but if it sits for about 45minutes to an hour it will crank for about 5 to 10 seconds before starting. When it runs the engine runs great.

you have a very slight leak somewhere in the fuel system letting gas bleed off when sitting . try letting key on without trying to start for maybe 15 to 20 seconds pressure build up to fuel rail

Refresh my memory, What have you done to the car beside replacing fuel filter? Do you have a fully charged battery? Are you getting spark to all cylinders? Are you getting fuel? I can help you if you tell me what is wrong. Don't assume it's the fuel pump cause there is so much in between but we can see if your Fuel Pump is working. Open your gas tank and have someone turn the car on but without starting it. You should hear a hum for about 2 to 3 seconds.
This means your pump is working. Now you need to find out what is your fuel pressure? A good number is between 65Lbs. and 40 lbs.
Let me know how you make out I'll be on line all day today.

My Pontiac Sunbird 96 ran out of fuel. I need to know how to bleed the system of air. Where is the bleeding line??

you shouldn't need to bleed the air out-if you filled back up with fuel and its not starting you probably have a bad fuel pump-sorry- to bleed the fuel line look where the fuel line connects to the fuel injector rail-on the rail there should be a thing that looks like a tire inflator valve-turn the key on and push in the center of the valve and fuel should come out of it -if not then for sure pump isn't working- cheers Denny

Replace fuel injector cadillac cts 3.6

First off..Do you have the High Pressure direct injection 3.6 LLT engine or basic 3.6 Engine ? Yes the upper Plenium has to come off, but you will have to probably pull your wipers off, and the 7mm screws that hold the cowl beauty panel on and then there is enough cleareance to remove the plenium, disconnect throttle body snorkel tube at throttle body, remove 10mm bolt at brkt drivers side of throttlebody (ball stud) if I remember right, then there are 13mm bolts at back besides the obvious ones you can see and carefully lift it up off engine, thenyou can get to rails for the injectors, to bleed off 3.6 low pressure fuel system pull fuel pump fuse in trunk fuse box and start it let it run out of gas, then bleed Schrader valve too on rail, if you have a high pressure direct injection llt engine let me know, will describe procedure to you

.comFuel pump went out installed

Did you bleed air out of fuel system. There is a small valve in the fuel system near the fuel rail (top frt of engine). looks like a tire shrader valve but is in fuel line.

Car ran out of gas. now wont start. replaced fuel pump and filter. fuel is coming through the rail. car will crank if fuel is poured in throttle body until all fuel is burned up.

Dear,

You have to pump the fuel pump and bleed some fuel from the injectors so to bleed the air as well.

due to air blockage in the line its not letting to crank the engine.

please look for it

thanx

No fuel PSI.

most likely bad pump check the fuel pump relay you may not have all the air out of the system hold the shrader valve in on fuel rail and have some one turn key on and off several times call the parts store and see what the psi rating for the pump is i know that on my jimmy its 52psi and it wont run at 50 the 5 second hum is controled by the computer
