How to remove the axel shafts from the Diff. 94 ford expl.

Do one side at a time, Jack the front wheel off the ground and remove. Remove the Brake Caliper and Rotor. Remove the large center nut in the Hub. Now remove the two bolts holding the lower part of the strut to the A-Arm and separate. You should be able to pull the hub down far enough to get the end of the axle out with some wiggling and possibly swearing, it not you can remove the lower A-Arm and just pull it off. PLACE A DRIP PAN UNDER THE SPOT WHERE THE AXLE GOES INTO THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE PULLING THE AXLE! Replace the axle to trany input seal and reverse order my instructions. Repeat for other side. This is a good time to replace Brake Pads and Rotors as well.

I have a 2008 ford f250 superduty 6.4 l diesel and it drips oil right above the oil pan! ford dealership keeps telling me that they dont see a leak and when t i went to look they had already wiped it off!...

Hello, If you are still under Warranty, try a different Dealer. When I had a problem with a leak, I took a piece of cardboard and put it under the truck overnight. Then I took the cardboard and the truck to the Dealer for a Warranty repair.

If you can see the leak by crawling under the truck, the newer Digital cameras can be helpful in documenting problems. Since they are Digital, you can erase any fuzzy photos and experiment until you get good results. This would go a long way to stop having a mechanic just wipe the oil off and send you on your way.

If you do not have a reader for the photo taken by the camera, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite-Aid and other drugstores have photo equipment to make any size print you want, usually for less than $1 a print.

The rear main seal can drip where you indicate. If you have an Automatic trans, there is usually a dust shield covering the Torque converter. Some are easy to remove and if the rear seal is leaking, you should have oil covering the Torque converter area.

I hope my Solution is very helpful in solving your problem.

Front right differential seal is leaking. Is it much to repair? Is it something that I could do myself with limited mechanical ability? Approx. how much should it cost at Ford to do. Is there an...

You mean the axle seal is leaking if it is not the one that is for the driveshaft. If you have limited mechanical ability I would recommend that you take it to a shop to have it repaired. There are special tools that are used to drive the seal back in and if you're not careful when installing it the new one could leak as well. As for time to repair it, book time for the right front axle seal is 1.3hours to remove and install the axle and .2hours to replace the seal. So 1.5 hours times the shop rate is what it will cost you, and shop rates vary so shop around. Check your Ford dealer also it could be warranty, I believe Fords warranty is 3 years 60 000 kms so you still might have warranty for it. Also I personally don't ever like to use stop leak additives for anything, its best to just fix the problem. Those things sometimes cause more problems than they're worth.

Good Luck, if you have any more questions please ask.

you need to get another estimate from an honest private shop. These #s sound very high. I have never seen even a mercedes therm cost $198...is it the gold & platinum one you can wear as jewlery after you are done with it in the car? If I have time later, I'm going to look up parts prices and post them. Also if front axle seals are warranty, why not rears?
