Try a cup full of transmission fluid dextron 3 in the engines oil till you next oil change. Sometimes the hydraulic lifter get sticky inside. The dextron will help the rubber seal in the motor as well.

How do i fix my 2001 740i bmw it makes a ticking sound win idleing

could possibly be a lifter tapping (Ticking) ,depending on how many miles the vehicle has on it might be time for lifters to be adjusted, most foreign overhead cam engines must have lifters adjuster periodically ,if you turn on the air its puts more of a load on the engine causing a louder sound (also check oil level an engine low on oil will start to tick too.. the more wear the engine gets the looser the lifters can get over time ,look in your service manual if you have one and see what the intervals are on lifter adjustment this can give you an idea.
possible only if
the ticking sound is coming from the top of the engine usually comes from under the vavle covers where the lifters are located,

A ticking sound on a 06 ford f150 super crew 5.4L

Ticking sound could be coming from a Coil-on-Plug, or a pcv valve, or (hope it's not) a valve lifter which could be sticking. Sticking lifter noise often disappears when rpm's change, or the noise comes & goes. try changing the motor oil & filter right after adding an Engine-Flush Treatment to the motor oil, running the engine for 10 minutes at idle with treatment added to the oil, then draining the oil & changing filter while oil is still very hot. That last part is very important, so be careful not to burn your hands - be careful. -- The sticking lifter is a likely cause if motor oil has not been changed at frequent intervals in the past (every 3-4K miles) -- dirty oil causes sticking lifters.

Tikking noise coming from engine

Yes, you're right, those could be the cause. Also, possible it's a collapsed hydraulic valve lifter, if your car has hydraulic operated (from engine oil) valve lifters. At any rate, it sounds like something loose in the valve train-valve lifter with push rod engines; or cam followers {rocker arms) with overhead cam engines that push on the top of valve stems .
Check a repair manual to see if your engine has valves that can be and need adjusting. Engines with valve lifters do not require periodic adjustment for proper valve clearance. Engines with rocker arms do require checking the valve clearance every couple of years or so.

WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING IT TICKS LOUDLY AND WHEN U ACCELERATE IT TICKS FASTER.

A worn valve lifter or a loose rocker arm is causing that noise. To find out which one it is, the valve covers have to come off and check each one. If the rocker arms are snug, then it's a lifter, in which case the whole top part of the engine has to come off to get at the lifters.

Lifters are knocking and there is a missing in

lifters tick and noise is upper end of engine if lifters are making noise could be from a bad valve, bad lifter ,push rod ,oil pressure, rocker arm - need to take do compression test find out if valve problem and which cylinder is problem also take off valve cover and check for proper oiling of valve head and look to see if and are damaged or loose-------a knocking sound usually comes from lower end of engine, rod knock etc.and thats usually rebuild of engine

I have a ticking noise in my 2004 jeep cherokee. This noise starts off very light and progrssively gets louder. It will finally stop and then start over again as if it was running in a sequence. I beleive...

From here, it would be silly to tell you what is causing that. It shouldn't be too hard to listen and look till you find where the noise is coming from, if it's inside the engine, it may be a valve lifter "hanging up" Marvel oil will generally help there. if it's a control unit or relay don't be too quick to condemn it...it may be getting an errant signal from elsewhere. But, you need to find it to fix it!!!

Ticking noise from engine

You might have a bad hydraulic valve lifter (assuming this engine has them)... you could try an aftermarket product designed to unstick valve lifters.... any auto parts store carries them.
