Question about 1999 Honda CR-V

2 Answers

My daughter borrowed my car (a 2003 Honda CRV EX) and accidently left a light. After jumping the car, I found the radio/CD player does not work. The time is correct and is blinking. If I hit any button, the time disappears and the word 'ErrE' appears where the time once was. Unlike the time, it does not blink off and on. I cannot find in my owner's manual what 'ErrE' indicates. Is it an electrical issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dying Without MY Music

my car is doing the same . I called the dealer and you need serial # ON TOP OF THE STEREO . Just look online and you'll find how to take it out and look for it. get the code off the sticker and call dealler and they told me that you just punch in 66531 on cd player . but it didn't fix mine yet.

Or you can get it yourself if you are so inclined. You just pop out the radio and it should be printed on a sticker on the back side of the radio. punch it in and you'll be back to your tunes.

You'll have to get to the dealer to have them give you the Radio lock out code. Once they give you the code, punch it in, and everything will be back to normal.

I have a 2003 Honda Civic EX coupe. Installed aftermarket radio cd player and the cd works but the radio does not. The issue is not with the new unit as the previous player's radio would not work either....

If you're getting power to the CD player then there's power
to the radio. The antenna involves the grid on the rear window,
an antenna coil and cable to the radio. You can check the
grid for a break and if it's small you're auto parts store will
have a repair kit. My 05 Accord rear window defogger did
not work and it took Honda 2 attempts to repair it. Other
than checking the grid I would bring it to the dealer.

My radio in my 2003 CRV says Error E. I can't use the radio, tape or CD player. What is the problem?

you need to call the dealer and ask them for a security code to unlock your radio if it is stock. it is an anti-theft solution that dealers had installed into the radios to keep people from being able to use the radio if it is stolen.

Thanks everyone. Found my crv 2003 radio code in

That is some great news.
We are glad you found the card.
Put the card in a safe place.
Open the trunk lid and write it on the inside of the lid. Never lose it again.

There is only 2 options.
1. Your radio code is in your paperwork for your car (Its on a hard plastic card) Find it.
2. Take your registration to Vin and Ser Number for your radio to your local dealer.
These codes are a guarded secret and no one code fits all.
Hope this tip helps guide you in the correct direction to solve this problem.

The exact problem happened to me...

Opposed to a blown fuse, most likely the drained/dead battery caused the radio to "reset" itself. You should have a 5 digit (or 4) code that was provided by the dealer or owner. Most owners write it down somewhere on their owners manual. If not, the dealer can give you the code. Once the code is entered, you back in business!

Good luck!
