Cold air out of the passengerside and warm air on the drivers side

This is a common sign that one of the temp door actuator motors has failed and does not control the temp door for either the passenger or drivers side, depending on which side is not blowing the air temp that you set it to.

If you have dual air control, then the motor for the passenger side needs replaced, most common fail for all makes and models. Usually you can access it by removing the glove box.

Check the vent plumbing under the dash with the fan on high. Just run your hand along the tubes and feel for moving air.

Sounds like the vent control motor is bad. It controls how much hot water flows through the heater core. OR the heater core for that side is clogged

Sounds like there is a crack in the vent that leads to the drivers side, and hot air from the engine is leaking through.

2000 impala cold passager and warm air driver side


there is an actuator for the drivers side heater that opens the temp door. this motor actuator needs changing. so it is stuck in heat mode and now motor will not move door to cold.

For the Chevy, this sounds like a common problem with one of the temperature door actuator motors depending on which side has the temperature coming out that you set the control to. There is a motor under the dash on each side that controls the temp coming out of either side vents.
