How much R134a should I add to 2000 toyota? My a/c wont charge

Not sure I understand. R134a is the refrigerant. So what else are you adding? The best solution is to find the leak and repair it. Leaks will continually become worse. Your system may not hold anything anymore. However having to much refrigerant will overcharge the system and not allow it to cool. All systems hold different amounts, there should be a sticker under the hood that tells you how many pounds the system holds.

I need to know the amount of refrigerant oil to put in new air cond. system on a 1993 GMC pick-up, v-6., standard trans.

Hello barksdale fr: My name is Roger and I will help you. The amount of a/c oil is 8.0 oz. If you are converting to R134a freon you need to use oil that is compatable with that freon. Also if you are converting the system use 10% less freon with R134a otherwise you will over charge the system. Be syre to use the propper orfice tube for the R134a freon if converting. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Basic: How do I re-charge 1989 toyota corolla air conditioning system.freon re-charger ket how to install.

Hi!!
Unfortunately, the R-12 refrigerant that your compressor used was phased out on 1994. You will need to an Automotive A/C Shop to have the system evacuated, flushed, vacuumed, retrofitted and charged with R134a refrigerant. This job requires the use of specialized equipment and according to EPA regulations must be performed by a licensed HVAC Technician.
Once your system was retrofitted, if you ever need to re-charge refrigerant. All autoparts carry easy to use, instructions included, R134a refrigerant recharge kits.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

The air works great when it works. Then all the sudden it quits cooling, the compressor shuts off, and dont come back on. It seems to happen when it gets above 75 outside.

You will have to look into this further but I wouldn't rule out a High Pressure Cut-off Switch in the AC system. One thing you might have on your side is Newer vehicles run R134a refrigerant which is not an Ozone depleter like R12. that makes things easier for you to replace with the help of your local auto parts store. You can get R134a and air conditioner condenser oil in One and it is easy for you to put in. So first off you might want to make sure you are not low on R134a/not too full either, if the system does not leak and is to proper proportion of R134a the I would look at the High pressure cut off switch. (does it get extra cold before shutting off?)

How many pounds of freon does a 1993 Saturn SL2 hold?

The R12 spec on the Saturn Threw 93, capacity R-12 2.1 to 2.25 lbs.

On the 94 -98 S-series cars; per the Haynes A/C manual these systems should take 6.5 oz of Ester oil and 24 oz of r134a refrigerant.

The amount of refrigerant required is printed on a label in the engine area. I think its 1.5lbs or 24ozs or two 12oz (net wgt) cans if your system is the R134a.

Thank you for using fixya and just make sure that your have the right system in your Saturn, it's going to be R12 from 1993 and earlier and 1994 will be R134a. Note: at if your not the original owner, your system may have been converted to the R134a.

Here is a link for you that should help you.

Whe you retrofitted the system to r134a ,did you subtract the amount from r12 to r134a. The system will hold less r134a than r12. It is roughly four oz less than r12.
