Oil filters I have a Mazda 3 and it has a cannister type oil filter. How does this come off? Do you just twist it like a regular oil filter or is there anything special I need to do to get it off. I have never changed this type of filter

Is it easy to change the oil filter ?

Yes its not very hard to replace the oil filter on mazda 6.You don't need a special tool. Use a 6mm allen to remove the filter drain plug. It will probably start to spin the filter housing. You can remove the housing by hand or with a regular oil filter wrench. ---------------- There is a step by step guide provided to replace oil filter on mazda 3.I am aware that yours is mazda 6,but still check the step by step guide to replace the oil filter on mazda 3.This will give you more help on replacing the oil filter. Where is the oil filter

Hello,

The fuel filter is attached to a bracket located in the left rear of the engine compartment. Look down in the space between the master cylinder fluid reservoir and the rear of the air filter compartment, you will be looking at the top of the fuel filter cannister. It's very hard to get at.

Take care.

O-ring on cannister oil filter, how to keep in place for install of cannister. can you use formagaasket?

Don't use any type of siicon or formagasket. It is too easy for some of it to get inot the oil passages and plug them. Instead coat the o-ring with oil and place it up inside and then put the canister in place. If it won't stay with oil on it a few small dabs of grease or Vaseline will hold it up while you put the canister back on.
There ae also kits available in the aftermarket to convert your truck to a spin-on filter set up. Check with your local autoparts store. Hope this helps.

I would like to know whre the oil filter is situated on a 2002 316ti BMW?

it's not so much an oil filter as it is an oil filter element in a cannister with a removable top. look for an aluminum looking circular thing with a 10mm 6point bolt head on the top center. That's your oil filter cannister housing. unbolt the bolt......lefty loosey rightey tightey and voila.....there's the oil filter element. It is in the engine compartment, accessable from the top, not the bottom of the car.

Sir,could you tell me where the oil filter is located on a 1998 (S plate) manual saloon 5 series bmw

Ahhhhhh easy one. The oil filter cannister is located not below the engine but in that aluminum looking cannister on the left as you look at the motor from the top.

There's a cap with a nut looking thing holding it all together. undo the nut take off the cap and voila....there's the oil filter. Be sure you pay attention on how it goes together. there are two O-rings and a copper gasket to put back correctly.

Who wants oil spewing out of the oil filter cannister assembly when you're driving down the road and the oil is under 35 psi? Not you, because it will ruin your engine pronto.

How to I replace the oil filter on a 2009 Toyota Camry V6 engine?

Under the engine in the front you will see an aluminum cover. There is a square hole that fits a 3/8 ratchet remove this first. The new filter comes with a drain adapter that snaps in the hole under the cover. This lets the oil in the housing drain. Then take a oil filter cup wrench or a big channel lock to twist of the larger portion. Then change the filter and o-ring and reinstall.Make sure the o-ring on the square drive cover is there also
