Is there an inexpensive fix for a rotted intake manifold coolant tube? the vehicle is a 2000 e-250 v-6. want to get another 25k out of van.

Replacing intake manifold gasket:
Replacing the intake manifold gasket, I used the tube kind, it's a make it youself for about $6 (it's blue and the consistancy of toothpaste) follow directions carefully! You can get a tube at Autozone or any car parts store. Has been working great. Just ask the cashier for the make it yourself kind of intake manifold gasket. Sorry, I don't remember the name of it, it's been that long...lol...

As for the Intake Manifold leaking coolant....It could, but shouldn't. One of the largest problems I've seen for coolant to leak out the Intake Manifold has been due to pressure in the system somewhere... Check the classic area:
Water pump- look for either water seapage and/or coolant. You'll know if it is because you will see real water either coming out of the water pump leak hole or under the thermostat. Most of the time coolant will pool where your heater hose runs in the intake manifold.

Mentioning heater hose. Check for leaks, holes, and/or cracked heater hoses. In-addition to the water pump, heater hoses...Check the transmission system, exhaust system, fuel system, radiator system, A/C system, secondary fan (located above the water pump housing), and thermostat.Also, check all electrical connections....Hummm....This is almost the entire workings of the vehicle.

NOTE: "It seems to be an infinity kinda thing... Once one thing starts to fail and is ignored, you are bound to be fixing a chain of event failures. Therefore, Do not ignore even the smallest problem or you'll be bound for life in repairs...."

My 2006 pontiacgrand prix is leaking coolant right above the water pump. There is an L shaped pipe that seems to be where the leak is coming from. Does anyone know what this piece is and how hard it is to...


This was a common issue with these engines. Unfortunately there is no easy way to fix this problem other than to remove the intake manifold and replace this plastic tube along with the intake manifold gasket itself, these engines were common for the intake manifold gaskets leaking and also for that tube to crack over time and start to leak as well.

Like i stated, unfortunately there is no real "easy" fix for your problem. I have replaced many of these tubes and many intake manifold gaskets on these engines. I would not recommend doing it yourself unless you are familiar with these engine, there are special torque specifications for all the bolts. I do know that the intake manifold repair job usually runs somewhere in the ballpark of $800 - $1000 or more depending on where you take it.

Fan will not come on by itsself. Where is the coolant sensor located?


coolant temp sensor is usually located on the radiator. also check fan fuse, fan relay (in fuse box and relay box), and intake air temp sensor (thats usually on the intake tubing before throttle after Mass air flow sensor)(can be check with diag scan tool specific for that vehicle). if the fan is on a belt, check the fan belt and check for rotted or broken wires going to the fan motor.

  1. Release the fuel pressure. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02.
  1. Detach the intake manifold bracket.
    • Loosen the nuts and remove the bolts.

  1. Remove the air cleaner housing.
    1. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
    1. Disconnect the air cleaner outlet hose.
    • Remove the air cleaner housing from the rubber bushing.

How to replace a thermostat on a 1999 Nissan Quest?


1999 Nissan/Datsun Truck Quest Mini Van 3.3L SFI 6cyl

The thermostat is located in the thermostat housing, which is mounted to the coolant crossover tube. The bypass hose is connected to the thermostat water inlet on one end, and to the intake manifold water outlet on the other. The thermostat is not located in the intake manifold water outlet, where the upper radiator hose is connected.

If it is not necessary to replace the coolant tube in the intake manifold if it is leaking antifreeze, how do you fix the leak even if you do flush out the system and put green antifreeze in? I am also...


I'm assuming you are talking about the 3800 v6 engine?
I don't know what hose or tube you are talking about either. There is not any coolant going through a hose in the intake manifold. There are two bypass coolant elbos on the passenger side of the engine going into the intake and timing cover from the intake and the heater core. Is this what you are talking about.
And NO green coolant in a 97 Dexcool only!

1994 Ford Truck E150 1/2 ton Van 5.8L MFI 8cyl Temperature Switch is located: Front seating area, center, under engine cover, front driver side of intake manifold, mounted in engine block.

The ECT sensor (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor) is located either in the heater supply tube at the rear of the engine, or in the lower intake manifold. The ECT sensor is a thermistor (changes resistance as temperature changes). The sensor detects the temperature of engine coolant and provides a corresponding signal to the PCM. From this signal, the PCM will modify the air/fuel ratio (mixture), idle speed, spark advance, EGR and canister purge control. When the engine coolant is cold, the ECT sensor signal causes the PCM to provide enrichment to the air/fuel ratio for good cold drive-away; as engine coolant warms up, the voltage will drop.

How do i change the intake manifold gasket


The intake manifold got nothing to do with coolant over heating if that is what you are talking about ?

Coolant leak


This engine has a plastic intake, jsut inside of the throttle body is a tube that comes from the EGR. It will burn through the plastic into a coolant passage located inside of the intake. You will need to replace the intake manifold and if you want there is a revised lower intake manifold with a slightly smaller diameter tube to prevent future burn through that will prevent a reoccurance. However, it is a costly repair for what is a infrequent failure. I suggest just replacing the upper intake manifold. They are now available through the aftermarket.
