We took a screw driver, be careful not to scratch the door panel.... Then we pryed the handle away from the panel.. There is a gold clip that u can see with a mechanics mirror.. U have to find something small and thin to push the clip down and it will release the prongs and then pull the handle off the shaft all in one motoin...
Hope this helps it was a little pain but i got it....

How to replace rear door speakers for 1997 GMC jimmy

I think your GMC have in-door rear speakers.!!
  • Look for screws in door panel or around the speaker vents.
  • If you are sure that the speaker cant be removed without opening the door panel then read this below.
  • Mostly seen near areas like door lever(inside), power window switch set, bottom and each sides of the whole panel.
  • If its manual window, then look for a circle clip in between the winding window lever and the door panel. Plunge screw driver between them a make a gap then look.
  • Assure that all clips or screws which obstacles the removal of the panel.
  • Simply pull the panel from sides towards you
  • If its completely open, then locate the speaker and unscrew it.
  • Check the connection wires for quality
  • Mostly its good to scratch the leads of the wire to remove copper oxide layer
  • Take the new speaker, check the holes on the door matching the speaker's
  • If needed, drill hole for screw and be sure that the new speaker is not more than 15cm diameter.
  • Connect the leads, fix the speakers.
  • Check the sound clarity with your car audio on.
  • If everything is perfect.. go on , fix the door panels
  • Mainly sure with the side clips of the panel, do not bent or break them.
  • Check for any balance parts or screws.
  • Screw everything back as normal.
  • You just installed a new speaker....
  • pls rate it!!

My driver side window will not roll down properly. I stops about half way and seems to bend inward toward the car instead of going down further. I have taken the door panel off and can not tell exactly...

remove the door panel. it may have come off track. go to any auto parts store and buy a haynes manual for your specific car. they are based on a complete teardown of vehicle. this book will show how to remove door panel. they are about 20 to 25 dollars.

Need to take door panel off v.w golf 1997 to fix window that is not going up. Where to start???

  • 1 Unscrew the door lock knob and remove the plastic trim cover from the inner door handle. If the Jetta has power windows, unplug the wires to the power window controls. Remove the screws with a Phillips head screwdriver.
  • 2 Turn the window regulator handle to the 9 o'clock position if the car has manual windows. Using a small, flat head screwdriver, slide the spacer, which is at the 3 o'clock position, directly away from the handle, and remove both it and the handle.
  • 3 Use the small, flat head screwdriver to remove the speaker grille. Remove the mounting screws and pull the speaker from the door. When they become accessible, unplug the wires from the back of the speaker.
  • 4 Pry the door panel away from its retaining clips by sliding a long flat head screwdriver between the door panel and the door. Slowly remove the door panel, once all retaining clips have released, by pulling it out from the bottom, then lifting it up and forward to move the door panel around the interior door latch

  • are you replaceing the regulator that makes the window go up and down or the glass you didnt say you just asked how to take door panel off hope this helps tell me if you need more info

I NEED NEW SPEAKERS FOR MY FRONT DOORS IN MY HONDA CIVIC COUPE 1997 BUT DONT KNOW WHAT SIZE TO BUY?

Not sure if you had a sedan, hatch, or coupe but here is the info you requested. Front door speakers measure 6.5" with a top depth of 1.75" (you have no depth problems here but any larger than 1.75 and you might have to cut out the factory housing.)

If they are door or kick panel speakers, you have to remove that panel to extract the speakers. Then measure them with a ruler; better yet, make a pencil outline of them (outside rim) and also where the mounting holes are. Then, when you buy new speakers say at Best Buy or some such, you will get the proper size, mounting and DEPTH. Unless you want to build all new mounting enclosures, you have to be sure of all the size measurements so that your new speakers will fit.

Wiring them is easy. There should be instructions. Speaker wires do have a + and - side, and if you cross them, the speakers will work but won't sound as good. Also be sure you have the POWER to drive your new speakers. Buy speakers of the same "impedence", measured in ohms right on your speakers.

Also, in here you can find the 1997 Honda Civic Service Manual.

Easy job, good luck (remember rated this help).

If no screws in center, then there will be a clip in behind that is hard to see & remove, unless you stop at autoparts store & buy one.

How do you replace the front door speakers in a 1999 Model Hyundai Excel?

You have to take the door panels off.
    The front speakers are 6"
So remove the front door panels, unbolt the factory speakers, bolt the new one in the existing holes, reinstall the door panels.
The grills will look factory, but you will have better speakers. Nice way to keep the good stuff hidden from prying eyes.

    Speaker Replacement

There should be at least 2 screws that are hiden in the door panel. One around the arm rest and the other down by the light/reflector.
Take those out and the panel should lift up. Becareful there will be a ton of wires that are attached to the door. Disconnect each of these and the panel will be free to remove.
You should have access to the speaker at this time.
