2002 lincoln continental tries to start for about one complete turn, then drags down badly and wont even think of starting at that point. If I leave sit for a bit, it does the same thing, never starts.

Narrow the problem down to a spark or fuel problem by spraying starter fluid into the intake. If the car starts for a few seconds, then you know there is a fuel delivery problem (fuel pump or injectors not firing). If it doesn't start for a few seconds then you know there is an ignition problem. In that case, the CKP or crankshaft position sensor circuit may not be functioning correctly.

Good luck on this diagnosis.

more than likely you have a wire grounding out somewhere. could be loose terminal or if you have lead terminals the smallest crack in them will drain the battery.

Lincoln continental battery keeps dying

the altinator should be putting out at least 14 volts,so have it checked out,and if its dead after an hour or so,it sounds like the diode,s gone,so the problem does seem to be the altinator.

My 95 lincoln continental wont start i replaced the battery but same problem i think its the anti theft system please help

If it has no spark you might try to replace the ign. module by the drivers side hood hinge attached to fender . Bought this part at pull a part for less than ten dollars. Put it on and cranked right up. Be sure t seal the water out when replacing.
