Have a Jeep Liberty 2003 Engine starts right up car shuts off in one second. Oil Light comes on. Lot of oil in there. Had to garage towed twice. Cost about $700. They are not fixing it. Think it may be linked to the four wheel drive. No sign of any problem till the engine just shuts the car off in one second.

2006 jeep liberty dying randomly. Oil change and new air filter. About to change spark plugs and wires. No gauge lights, no sputtering. Just turns off randomly, starts right back up when I put in neutral...

My 2006 Liberty has a similar issue. The oil light beeps and then the engine shuts off. I put the car in park and it restarts and the oil light goes off. I had the oil, filter, and lines checked and everything checked out. The mechanic thinks it may be the oil sensor going out and that for safety reasons the engine shuts down when the oil light comes on.

2004 Jeep Liberty-the Oil indicator light comes on and will stay on. Turn off car immediately as the book indicates, let it sit for awhile, turn back on--light is off. Drive a few miles, light comes back...

Double check how much oil is in the engine, it could be coming on because your low on oil. I can only think of two other possibilities either you have a bad oil sending unit or you have a problem with your oil pump.

Oil light came on after oil change and new filter. garage said I should change the oil and another new filter. No good results. Oil light is still on, what now. Jeep liberty 2005

do not start vehicle ,drop the sump and clean it out with caustic ,also the oil pump pick up pipe ,then put the oil back in and start ,if ok then put half a litre of diesel into the oil and 3 good squirts of fairy liquid, then run engine for a week and change the oil again, use a cheap diesel /petrol oil from the supermarket ,not that fancy rip off synthetic long life ****.change oil every 6000 miles with a oil filter every third oil change

2002 Jeep Liberty: Battery cable loose wire was

first, though you mentioned no oil leaking, is there oil in the engine?
Next, if engine runs well and is not ticking or tapping, have the codes checked...most larger parts stores do this free. Once you have the stored codes you can look up what system is malfunctioning.
If engine is making any noise at all or there is no oil in it, DO NOT START OR DRIVE IT...make sure whoever did the oil change knows about this now...If someone forgot to put oil in, they may be buying you a new engine!
At this point it may be something simple but can also be very serious.(hope not)
good luck

2003 jeep liberty driving fine oil light comes on and car dies

Go to the shop, remove the oil dipstick and smell the oil, ( well maybe first you should get a base line by smelling normal, new oil) if you burned up your oil, it will smell really bad like burnt....well burnt oil like when a car is blowing blue smoke. If it smells really bad like burnt, they are probably telling you the truth and you need to find out where the oil leaked out...if it seems like the oil drained out the oil pan or the filter, the people who changed your oil could be held liable for not tightening down those parts properly. Since you werent burning oil, my guess is that you were leaking it. If the motor will not turn over but you can hear the starter engage, you definatley seezed up you engine. But i really really hope that the mechanics are full of **** and that you do not need to replace your engine. No matter what you do, keep any parts removed from your vehicle to have inspected by another mechanic for review. For instance, if you have brake pads replace at the discression of the mechanic, ask for the old brake pads back and take to antoher shop to see if they really needed to be replaced or not.

2003 Jeep Liberty. Changed oil, running very rough and dies.

Buy some Marvel Mystery oil from Auto Zone and add it to you engine oil. Keep an eye on your engine oil level everyday with the Marvel in there and change the engine oil every 3000 miles. Hope the Marvel will clean out the lifters for you and the rest of the sludge in the engine. Do Not Use Engine Flush!!!! There know to eat the seals and kill engine sensors.
The EGR could also be stuck with carbon build up and may need to be cleaned or replaced. Try doing this, turn your radio off and disconnect the battery for a min, turn the ignition key to the run position and re connect the battery then start the liberty. That should reset the air idle control valve
Let it idle down and then go for a test drive after it warms up. Good luck and keep me posted, while your at Auto Zone have them scan your liberty for any DTC codes. Be glad to help.

Cuts off, but will restart, then cuts off again

Likely, you have a damaged engine bearing. When there is a problem there it will turn oil pressure light on because bearings keep the pressure inside the crankshaft...It may stop as the bearing overheats and binds, then loosens up a bit allowing a re-start when it gets cooler. Battery sounding dead is likely because the engine is locking up and too difficult for starter to turn.
At this point, it is not a do-it -yourself project ...either you need a lower end rebuild or engine replacement.
