try going google and typing in-- labor hours for dodge ram 2002 ---
remember that you have to add up all the hours for each job
for example remove and replace a ball joint may be .3 hours but to get to the ball joints there will be
remove and refit wheel, .1 hrs
remove calliper .5 hours etc
so the remove and replace the ball joint total will add up to 1 hour
if you get a pdf version down load you will see what I mean

Probably broke the upper ball joint.
If nothing else is damaged the cost of the ball joint is around $25 in most areas plus labor.

they are front suspension pieces, and yes it is costly, but its not just the parts, there's labor also, and another mechanics opinion would be good.

Control arms are the parts that hold the ball joints (upper and lower) and attach to the vehicle frame. Look in back of the tires. The lower control arm, in your case, will have a torsion bar (a bar that serves as a spring)making the repair more labor intensive. Cost will vary based on labor rates, parts cost/mark up. Sorry I can't give you a figure but hope it helps at least to identify the parts.

each ball joint will run you around 75-100 bucks (theres four all together) Plus you will probably pay around 300 bucks for labor, and a good mechanic could do it in a day or two. good luck and i hope this was what you were looking for.

shop to shop, And parts prices can depend on brand

NOTE_ Land Rover recommends to replace the upper and lower, in this situation. Total cost, if you chose to replace the upper and lower ball sets, will be $80.00 for the parts, and $360.00 on the labor.

that sounds pretty high, I had those replaced on my 99 ranger XLT and it only cost me $400.oo, in Naples, FL. Id definately shop around.
