Hi,

May I offer an alternative other than alarm/security immobilizer?

I am basing my suggestions on your post "gauges would act up shift light would go out ". My thinking would be on:

  1. body ground (not only the engine ground);
  2. ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch;
  3. any of the main/big connectors under the dash with particular attention to those carrying big heavy wires not the small multi colored ones Try wiggling them a bit.
Alternately, could possibly be:
  1. crank sensor (and the connectors/wires);
  2. if automatic transmission, try moving to Neutral, Park and start in any of those two shift positions.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Was just thinking, if it were the security/alarm system, then other than no start, there would be some indication that the system hs been triggered such as horns honking, a siren, head lights or park lights flashing, a security message on the dashboard.

Sounds like it could be your ecm (electronic controll module) this unit controlls the fuel injection system , locate this unit and tap it with a screwdriver handle while someone tries to start it ok if this seems to get her going then you need to replace ecm ok give this a shot . and if it helps please dont forget to rate this solution as fixa ya good luck also check the wire going to the coil the power supply for the coil make shure there is 12 volts there whene turning the key to start ok

    Yes this vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key

    based engine disabling system, and will require a

    GM PLJX bypass module to circunvent it and

    KEEP IT THAT WAY!

    A bypass is required to interupt PASSLOCK for

    remote start applications. It is done by

    grounding the system to allow it to start,

    then re establish it for security usage.

    This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to provide

    a proper coded pulse to open the fuel rail

    passlock injector cut off circuit.

    The output from an alarm/remote starter

    would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected

    the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity

    of the passlock system.

    That is it's designed purpose.

    This is a self learning, resistor sensing

    and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK

    wires have been tapped,

    you would press the program button to learn,

    and it does. The car should then allow start

    with any hardware store key.

You can find out if the security system is the problem by removing the fuse for it. If it runs properly without the fuse then the security system is the issue. Does this have the EFI system or thotle body on it, and if EFI can you see any fuel entering when the throtle is depressed?

    You'll have to read the owners manual for the security fuse, and there is no manual reset for it. It resets automatically after a period of time.

    I was browsing some forums for S10 blazers and found that on the 1999, with the key on you will need a minimum of 65lbs of fuel pressure in order for the injectors to work properly and the engine to start. After the engine is running the pressure should drop to a constant minimum of 55lbs. You mentioned that you have 62lbs, this won't be enough pressure to activate the injectors. Check the feul pressure regulator.

    Here, read this link on the security system. The 99 has the same as the 02.

Do you know if it has the passlock key system? You can tell if the key has the little black plastic with a little metal strip in it usually. What happens is this key loses the original resistance. Have you tried different keys?
Thanks,
Lee

My chevy s10 blazer will start for a couple of minutes then shut off. It has a new fuel pump, cap & rotor, spark plugs and wires. The computer is putting out a 1-2 code.

the code 1-2 is just telling you that you're in diagnostic mode (means nothing) fuel pump could be going out or fuel filter

When everthing is tested or replaced then the only option is a bad computer. or maybe you have clogged injectors or fuel system in the rail

94 s10 blazer dies when put into gear ,run fine other than that new fuel pump filter plugs wires coil cap rotor module alternator battery starter cables

Sounds like a vacuam leak, best thing to use is cold start spray, by spraying the vacuam lines with this you will notice a change in the idle wherever the leak is at.
