Question about 1991 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Troublestarting sometimes My 1991 Honda Accord worked great all winter not the weather is warm I'm having some trouble.only happens about every 2 weeks. When it starts runs for a second then won't start. If I remove a plug wire and using a screwdriver in the plug wire and ground it to the motor it will start. I let it run about 15 sec. shut off and reattach the plug wire and then it will start on its own. any suggestions? someone told me it was a bad sensor in the coil. someone else suggested a relay under the dash. The ground wires look okay. Thanks

The igniter in the distributor may be going out. The main relay is under the dash and it very well could be an issue as well, but ususally when it goes bad, the car won't start at all.

Which motor oil to use for the engine? I have been using 10w40. can I switch it/top off with 10w30? My car is a 1991 honda accord ex with 190,000 miles on it. also, its leaking oil through the pan...

10w-40 is going to be slight better for your 190,000 mile engine especially in this warm weather-and it would have a slightly better tendency at resisting leakage, again at higher temps.

I have a 1991 honda accord my front dimestor dosnt work nor does the rev gauge when i turn on the the cooling system it blows out warm air

well it is 20yrs old so things are bound to go wrong ,the front demistor is no doubt a operating flap not working also the spongrubber seal could have perished away by now as well ,if heater isnt hot enough and the weather is really cold in north east america then put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator as this help the engine raise the temperature of the cooling system

What oil viscocity for honda accord DX 1990 for cold weather ?

5W- 30 is the lowest you can go in winter time. I would use a high mileage formula since we're talking about a 1990 honda. It will help condition the seals in the motor from making any oil leaks worse.

Hard to start in hot weather

Start looking at temperature sensors and maybe even the thermostat.

Mysterious car noise

Check the oil first, if it is low it will cause a host of noises in the engine.

It sounds like that may be the problem you have
