Find your local vw service center and see if they can plug their computer in to see if there are any codes on the cpu. there may be one for an intermitent for the turbo. i ran into the same problem last month and it was the turbo veins are sticky so occasionaly it lack power going up hills. it did not cause the check engine light to come on, but there was a code on the cpu when they checked it. if it happens again while you are driving, pull over, shut the car off for 10-30 secs then restart it and see if it makes a difference. when it happened to me i called my guy and thats what he had me do and it was like a new car after that.

My 2000 VW Jetta TDI suddenly lost power on the interstate. It seemed that it took twice the RPMs to keep the same speed. Is this the turbo kicking off? At lower speeds it feels as if it does not change...

Most likely its your transmission slipping You will need to have it checked by a mechanic if the rpm is double then it has nothing to do with the turbo, if it's a automatic it means the clutches are slipping or if it's a standard it means the clutch is slipping from being worn out or the pressure plate is wore out.

My 99 vw jetta wolfsberg will get up to 25 mph then all of the sudden will drop back down to zero for a minuite, then will jump back up to 25 mph it just keeps doing the same thing over and over again with...

Does your actual speed change or just the displayed speed? It could be a build up of brake dust on the speed sensor behind the rotor if it's displayed speed.

I have a 2000 Jetta 5-speed shifter won't engaged in any gears.

your synchros are probably worn.

Does the MPH go up when you have it in gear? If so this may be because the axles are not engaging the tires because they are not connected properly. If it doesnt go up then it could either be your tranny or synchros
