Question about 2000 Ford Focus
I have a 2000 Focus with 70K miles. Fuel filter replaced a few months ago. Just had it in shop for oil change and said leak in P/S pump but no other problems reported. Have appt this week for P/S pump repair. Past few days idle has been a bit chuggy and at times when stopped car has just died any ideas?? Thank you!!!
Agreed, check the vacuum lines. I also own a 00 SPI focus and I was at a light and my engine died on me for no reason. Car was running very rough, barely made it home. I checked the lines according to some of the discussions on focushack forum and sure enough mine had a huge gash

Bought a use 03 last week for very cheep because it was idling rough, read in a forum about focus vacuum leaks and to use small burst of starting fluid to find the leak, spray around engine, if you hear the engine level off and run smooth in a particular spot for a few seconds the leak is in that general area, check the hose in that area, i found a large elbow on my pvc valve line was cracked in half, repaired with copper plumbing elbow fitting and silicone. now runs perfect. be very careful with the starting fluid short burst in well ventilated are.
