I have a similar problem with the cig lighter is not working in the middle compartment but the one near the glove box does work. I tried switching the fuses and still cannot get the one in the middle compartment to work. I even purchased a new fuse but that didn't work either. Any suggestions?

Check the fuse that sais POWER SOCKET on it. Its most likely blown. Common problem in Muranos. Too much draw by what ever you are plugging in blows that fuse.

You must have a blown fuse. Did you test each fuse with a ohm meter? Keep in mind you must remove each fuse from the fuse block to test it. If you touch the meter leads to the two metal bits on top of the fuse without removing it from the circuit, you could get a false reading or damage your meter. Also, a blown fuse doesn't necessarily have to look charred and black inside, depending on where the element broke. Your vehicle manual should have a diagram showing what each fuse is for. This might save you the trouble of checking every fuse, and confirm the fuse was put back into the correct slot.

Toyota Corolla seca1998 radio/cig not working, replaced fuse for cig and it has worked but for no more than a minute or 2, keeps blowing. Assuming it's something to do with a shortage between the cig fuse...

hi there. ok what I advise is to simply disconnect the cig lighter, then replace fuse and turn on stereo. this will tell you which is causing the problem. if fuse blows its the stereo if fuse is good then its the cig lighter. you may have had a child etc put coins in the slot thinking it a slot machine...ive been there before but sadly it was only pennies....they rattle around in the stereo and hit electrical parts. also look into the cig lighter hole and see if a coin or similar stuck down there bridging the sides with the bottom... simply use your finger to check this and not a screwdriver to short it again.

hope this helps you.

Hi,i'm having trouble with the cig lighter on my car, it keeps blowing fuses. can i wire it directly to the battery with an inline fuse? How would i do this?

you could do this by running 2 wires directly from the battery to the back of the cig lighter and by fusing the positive.if it is only when using the cig lighter and not when charging a phone could be element on the cig lighter shorting

1989 toyota corolla cigarette lighter doesn't work

The fuse should be beside the accellerator pedal behind a black cover. Should be a yellow 20amp in the middle row, at the end, closest to the front of the car.

Cigarette lighter fuse location

OK then look up the fuse location for your power accessory

the cigar fuse is usually under the hood in that panel most likely a 20 amp yellow fuse take a flash light and hold it to the fuses helps you to see if there is a broken fuse
