Tip & How-To about Chrysler Sebring

A TIP FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A VEHICLE THAT WON'T START

When you have a vehicle that will not start, there could be many possible reasons that it don't. You should always check your fuses and wires to the battery first. This is easy and almost anyone can do it. Make sure your battery has a good connection and the terminals are clean and in good shape. If your battery terminals are dirty, it can cause starting problems. A simple fuse can also keep your vehicle from starting up. Your engine has to get fuel to it in order for it to start. Make sure your fuel pump is kicking on when you turn the key on. You should hear a buzzing sound for a second or two. If you can't hear well and you have a friend, it is easier to listen at the gas cap area. Take your cap off and have someone turn the key on but not all the way to start it. If you hear a noise, your fuel pump is working. A clogged fuel filter can cause your car not to start as well. Of course, there are many other things that it can be, but these are simple checks that you can do yourself. This will begin your process of elimination, to find and solve your problem. Anyone can check these steps. In the long run, it could save you a lot of money my friend. The more you learn about the car, the more you are prepared for future problems. You can save thousands of dollars in a lifetime by working on your own vehicle.

2000 dodge caravan just stopped running while i was driving. it keeps blowing the 4th 20 amp fuse counting down from the rear of the fuse block. when you use a jumper wire to bypass the fuse the van runs. what does this fuse control. don't have the top cover and the book don't tell me what this fuse goes to.

If it is like the 2000 Neon it is power to the computer and without it the vehicle won't run. That hard part will be finding the reason it is blowing because if you bypass it with a straight wire you take a chance on burning the vehicle computer out. My problem turned out to be the Alarm power wire coming free from where it had been attached at the rear of the fuse panel and brushing up against that position and causing the fuse to blow.

Replaced A 60am Fuse ,Ran For Two Days. Car Died and now i have no electrial juice to the whole car. suspect fuseable link.

You may be correct about the fusible link. Replacing a blown fuse without finding and repairing the reason it blew only leads to more problems and possible severe damage to wiring harnesses. Fuses are NEVER the CAUSE of an electrical problem. Blown fuses are ALWAYS the RESULT of an electrical problem. I would recommend taking the vehicle to someone who has access to the wiring diagrams and the proper equipment necessary to repair your electrical system. A blown 60 Amp fuse is nothing to play with. That fuse gave up it's life to stop your vehicle from burning to the ground. Please don't make it die in vain...car fires are never pretty!

need help fuses keep blowin

There are only two reasons for a fuse to blow: wrong size fuse or you have a short in the wiring. These can be a nightmare to pinpoint. First get you a wiring diagram if possible. Then start looking over the wiring harness. If you have done any recent work on the vehicle start there. Sometimes you'll find you accidently knocked a wire loose or broke a wire. Hope this helps. Good luck.
