It is very difficult to change it is all done by feel as you cannot see it. You need to pull the wire off and "remember" the path it took to come out as this is the way you will have to remove and install the plug and put back the wire. Also, be very mindfull while installing the plug because it can be stripped out fairly easy if your not carefull. Good luck.

2001 Xterra, running real rough, has 155k on it. The check engine light is flashing on and off. Still has the factory spark plugs in it. Could this be the problem?

it`s a good idea to get a complete tune-up with 155k. but you can use a scanner to get a code to find the problem.

Firing Order diagram for 2006 Ford Explorer

Hope this helps. The ignition coil:
  • changes low-voltage pulses from the PCM to high-voltage pulses.
  • fires 2 spark plugs simultaneously.
  • has 3 transformers.
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 1 and 5
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 2 and 6
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 3 and 4
Spark plug wires:
  • carry high-voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plugs.
The spark plugs:
  • change high-voltage pulses to spark at the gap, which ignites the fuel and air mixture.
The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.

Cost to replace spark plugs on 2003 maxima

you have 6 spark plugs, i would recommend the NGK v-power spark plugs for your car. the average cost on those type of plugs are $4.59 each so you would need 6 of them. i always replace spark plug wires everytime i buy new spark plugs however your particular car is what they call Coil-on-plug wires and are very expensive. you would have over $100.00 or so in 6 of these total, i would not replace these on your car unless you are having a major mis-fire and possibly need them.

Replacing spark plug wires and spark plugs 03 supercharged xterra...HOw to and how hard is it to do?

It take myself, a Nissan technician about 45 minutes to do. That's after doing them about 10 or so times.

They require patience, locking 6" extension if you have one. A flex head spark plug socket and a decent ratchet.
