Question about Hyundai Accent

2 Answers

My brakes will tighten up as you are driving. They will tighten so much that if you let off of the gas the car will stop. The brakes smoke. We have replaced the power brake booster, vaccuum hose, flex hoses on the left and right. The brakes hold so tight that the transmission does not want to go into overdrive. If you remove vaccuum hose from booster the brakes will release. What now?

Try replacing the check valve in the brake booster vacumn line see if it helps you can test it first by blowing in it, you should only be able to blow in it 1 way but not the other

Groaning or Grinding? I would check the bearing. If that is heating to the point of smoking you need to stop driving right away or you will start your car on fire.

Have excessive blue or white smoke from exhaust when truck is started after sitting for a few hours 2005 f250 6.0 ehgine

Hi,
is it a diesel or gas engine?
Usually excessive blue smoke on start up indicates oil is getting into the combustion chamber. It could be piston rings or valve seals.
Quick check, drive it within operating range and speed. Either use the rear view mirror or get someone to drive it and you follow in another vehicle. Accelerate, then take your foot of the accelerator. Blue smoke under acceleration indicates piston rings / pistons. Blue smoke on deceleration or the "over-run" indicates worn valve guides / seals.

White smoke can indicate coolant in the combustion chambers / leaking cyl head gskt, or incorrect fueling. If brake fluid gets into the combustion chamber it will generate a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. However, that would entail a leaking brake master cyl and a leaking brake booster.

Good luck.

Were the calipers check for not sticking, as well as lubed well when re-installed? If it's original flex hoses at calipers, that's also a consideration.

Smell smoke

There is most likely an engine oil leak that is leaking on the exhast that runs accross the bottom of most toyota engines. Valve cover is common

After 20 miles rear brakes tighten up and makes thumping noise

It is probably the flexible rubber brake line that runs from the axle to the metal brake line on the frame. When these become old they don't allow the brake fluid pressure to reduce when the brake is released.
