Maybe you can help me I bought this car cheap and its in excellent condition only 1 problem sometimes it has trouble starting. The other day it took my 1/2 an hour to get it started. It sounds like it wants to catch and start but doesnt all the time. My dad thinks it might be a neutral safty switch, I think it sound like its not getting fuel to start so maybe its a simple fix like a fuel filter or (hopefully not) a fuel pump. I would really appreciate your expert knowledge.

Re: 1993 Grand Am v-6
Will the car turn over?
when you try to start the car do you hear a clink or clunk noise coming from where the starter is? If so have it replaced. if you take it off you can have it tested. it sounds like the starter is only engaging so far and no farther.....

This is a tough one! Lets start with the easiest first, When was the tranny fluid changed last? Have you checked the level? Maybe low on fluid? It almost sounds like maybe you have a contaminated fluid. I would start by checking the fluid level and the fluid condition. If the fluid is low then add some if it looks funny or smells burnt I would flush the system and change the fluid and go from there. I hope this helps you.
I had a similar problem a while back, something you may want to check on is a sensor that check the temperature outside, it sometimes shorts out and tells the computer that it is -100 outside and the computer shuts off the engine and will not spark or do anything as it is trying to protrect your engine...sorry i can't remember the exact name of the sensor but its a faulty one and only costs about 50$ to replace hope this helps
