I have the same problem, I'm driving down the highway and the headlights just go out. I called Mercury and they didn't have a clue. I need to find the part and replace it. !st where can I find one and second, where is it located?

    Thanks

My problem is very similar. When you turn on the headlights, the low beams do not come on, but instead the daytime running lights stay on. High beams work fine. However if you pull back on the switch slightly, the low beams WILL come on like they should. This leads me to believe it's the switch and not the relays. Anyone ever fix this problem?

The high beam lights, turn signals, interior lights all work. The driving lights do not come on

Usually the problem is the relay fuses. Listen to see if they are clicking when you turn the lights (low and high). If you can hear the relay switching on and off with no lights coming on and off than replace the relay/s. You will need someone to stand under the hood with the fuse box open. otherwise you'll just be hearing the switch itself. If this isn't the problem than it is probably your light knob/switch.

replace the high beam switch which causes this problem. Also clean the terminals for the directional light bulb. That will cause a negative continuity to the bulb

you might just have two bad low beam headlights, I have seen it before. Only other problem would be the switch that turns on the headlights is bad. Best way is to Test power going into the headlight when the low beams are turned on to rule out the switch.

AT FUSE TERMINAL #45 TO THE RIGHT OF THE HIGH BEAM RELAY AS YOU ARE LOOKING INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A 15 AMP FUSE, PULL IT AND SEE IF IT IS BAD. IF IT IS REPLACE IT. THIS IS THE FUSE FOR THE HIGH BEAM RELAY.

Highbeam headlights work but no low beam, it is not the switch........?

Check voltage at the circuit box and test the high/low dimmer switch. Corrosion on a ground wire could also be the problem.
