Question about 2005 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

I JUST CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS ON MY 1999 DODGE CARAVAN SPORT. I HAD TO TAKE APART ALOT TO GET TO THE VALVES IN THE BACK, BUT WAS CAREFULL TO ONLY DISSASEMBLE WHAT I NEEDED AND REASSEMBLY WENT WELL. AFTER STARTING THE RPM'S ARE RUNNING AT 1800. IS THERE AN ADJUSTMENT THAT NEEDS TO BE MADE OR A SENSOR THAT MIGHT NEED REPLACED?

Best way to change the rear 3 spark plugs on a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan AWD

If you can not see the 3 spark plugs from on top with your own eyes that you might have to use ramps underneath the front tires and go underneath the car to see if you can get to them this way. In some vehicles like my daewoo car has a plastic cover that I had to first take off so you can retrace the spark wires from the coil to the spark plugs so use a flashlight to see. If you are replacing to make sure if your vehicle has the right spark plugs and are gapped to your cars specs before replacing them.

How do you install a oxyger sensor on a catayltic converter on a 2003 dodge grand caravan sport 3.8 liter?

There is a special socket that fits over the sensor--remove the wiring first. Just like changing a spark plug. Good luck!

How to replace plugs on a 1999 dodge caravan

depending on which engine you have ... some are very difficult (nearly impossible) to get to the back 4 plugs ... you cant get your hand back there to even touch the plugs on some ... others have lots of room ....i gave up on one 96 model and took it to a good dealer .. i asked "how do you get the plugs out without taking the engine apart ?". he said "we take the engine apart" ...i think they remove the intake manafold and maybe the rear valve cover ... he wouldnt tell me ... the ignition system in that car is very good and plugs can be terribly warn and still work ...i have seen 100,000 miles on standard plugs without misfires ...when i do change the plugs i put in the best i can find ... dont want to do that agian for a while ... i had the dealer install only the back 4 plugs and labor was around a hundred dollars ...its a good idea to use anti seize compound on the plug threads .. lacking that they have a way of welding themselves in aluminum heads if not changed periodically .. the front four plugs are easy to get at and all you need is the proper size spark plug wrench .. on smaller engines or later model caravans there is much more room behind the engine . .. still a bit hard to do since you cant see what you are doing back there but at least do-able .. dont over tighten the new plugs since that increases the chance of welding ... some plugs come with anti seize already applied and gap preset for your engine.

Backfires in manifold on motor on acceleration. runs ok low speeds

Spark plug wires. If you take it in a garage or wait till it's dark, and have somebody brake torque it while you watch, you'll see spark jumping. But don't get run over! Do it in reverse. Or just change the wires.
