The freon on my Hyundai Sonata keeps leaking. I have taken it in 5 x in last month. Had new condenser put on last summer by dif mech. After 2 wks freon was gone. he didnt chnge orings. Cant find leak

the system has to have enough Freon to produce pressures to properly check for leaks. the entire system needs to be checked, lines, Schrader valves, condenser, all fittings, evaporator, compressor seals. there is a leak it just has not been found.

Worst case diagnosis/cost scenario? front underbelly damage, hit 1' tall stake in ground. hissing sound ~5 sec & a/c fluid leaked by radiator gills. a/c blows warm air.

the damage will be a punctured condenser for the ac system
the green oil is the compressor oil that is circulated with the gas
you will not see the gas as it evaporates as soon as it hits the air. Best have an accredited ac specialist shop replace the condenser and any other damaged pipe work

You can't drive it with a leak.
You must fix that first, and hope that was also the hiss.
If you can't find it, fill with coolant, then pressurize with a pump and gauge from a place like Autozone. See if it holds pressure for over 5 minutes. Pumping up above cap pressure will make leak obvious.

When i killed the car,it made a hissing sound.then my air conditioner quit working.what does it need?

Hi!!
Most likely, one of your A/C hoses is busted or there is a leak on the system. Follow the hoses coming from the compressor to the condenser (the coil in front of the radiator) and to the firewall, there should be oily residue where the leak is.
The repair should be made by a HVAC Technician.

Catera 1998 a/c starts off with cool air and then gets warmer

I would have the dealer evaluate whether the radiator flaps and shrouds are all in place. Especially in Fla climate it is extremely important that the A/C condenser ( front of radiator ) stay at an appropriate temp. Of course that is not to say the EVAPORATOR doesn't have any faults. Hope this helps.

Get a new battery. The battery seems to be too drained of power. It will still light the dash but does not have enough power to turn the starter.Of course, before buying the battery, have it tested. Probably has a dead cell.

On the air conditioner, it seems you may have the condenser drain hose pulled out of the dash hole that leads to the outside and the water that condenses goes into the car instead of to the street. Of course, it also could be that the plastic housing is cracked and the water leaks out through that.
