Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I have a 04 jeep grand and it sometimes will not start and when it does start it will not idle you have to feather the gas to keep it running. Also when you try and crank it all the gages will flicker to max position and return to normal position. Yesterday it cut off driving through a parking lot and this morning it started fine until i got to a store and it wouldn't crank back. After getting it started and reving to motor awhile I just let it go dead and it started back up with no problem and has been fine every since. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
So many intermittent problems are caused by corroded battery connections, I would suggest starting there.
Losing/regaing contact can cause practically all of the symptoms you listed.
It can be caused by the battery terminals as well as corrosion at the starter (+ lead) or the negative not contacting well to the engine block or chassis.
For the battery terminals, buy a terminal brush at an auto parts store. These will have a female and male steel brush for the mating connector parts and maybe an additional straight steel brush to clean up the other ends.
Our GC seems to need love about once a year.
