Referencing oxygen sensor or O2 sensor or 'lambda sensor':

B1S1 is 'bank 1', which is the passenger side cylinder bank on a V6 or V8.

S1 is the 'upper' or 'upstream' sensor, closest to the cylinder.

Why does engine run great when first crank them misfire when warms up 2001 tundra v8

this could be:

1. EGR valve

2. Vacuum leak

3. MAF sensor

4. Oxygen sensors

5 Idle air control

6. Ignition components.

7. Valve seats

Start with vacuum leaks and check all the hoses and connections. If the oxygen sensors have never been changed, you should do that. They are like light bulbs and they burn out. The other things are to check the MAF sensor to see if it is clean, Same with the idle air motor and then check the valves etc with a cylinder leak down test.

My car sputters and jerks during acelleration and the check engine light stays on

Could be a number of things but start checking these things first:

1. Change your spark plugs, they're inexpensive and may solve the issue
2. Change the air filter, inexpensive and could be the issue
3. Change the oxygen sensor
4. Check the condition of the distributor and ignition coils, replace anything that looks worn or frayed. Let us know if that helps.

How many o2 sensors are on a 1999 Silverado 5.3

The 1999 5.3 V8 engine had 4 oxygen sensors. There are two catalytic converters on this engine, one on the driver side of the engine, and one on the passenger side of the engine. This is important to know, as the number of oxygen sensors is directly related to the number of catalytic converters on the vehicle. Driver side is referred to as Bank 1, passenger side is referred to as Bank 2. This is very important to know when looking up replacement oxygen sensors. There is one oxygen sensor in front of, or before the catalytic converter, usually referred to as a pre-catalyst O2 sensor. There is also one behind, or after the catalytic converter, usually referred to as a post-catalyst oxygen sensor. So, you have two oxygen sensors on Bank 1, and two oxygen sensors on Bank 2, for a grand total of 4 oxygen sensors.

On my '02 tundra the oxygen sensor(bank1 sensor 1) needs replacing. is it difficult, and what does it look like. my understanding is that it is licated underneath near exhaust.

oxygen sensors are on the exhaust. its just a small sensor with 1 or 3 wires. bank one meens left. if its a v6 or v8. but 4 cyl engines only have one bank ,. sensor 1 meens its before the catylitic converter. sometimes right by the engine manifold and sometimes way under. just follow the pipe from the engine to the cat and u will find it. if u can get it out the new one is easy. the problem is they usualy rust in tight. they make a special socket just for them. try some PB Blaster its no joke the suff makes WD40 look like cooking

How to locate and change the oxygen sensor on an audi a6 2002 front passengers side?

oxygen sensors are always on your exhaust right before the catylitc converter. some cars need a special socket to take the out. to gain access to the sensor you will have to get under the car most likely. The sensor looks similar to a spark plug but ist not one.

1990 Audi, 90. Information on oxygen fuel

The oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust right before the catalytic converter. It is a 3-wire type sensor. You will need to use an oxygen sensor to get it out, and a handy tip is to spray it with some penetrating liquid, then let it soak for 20 minutes before removal.

O2 Sensor on a 1996 Cadillac Eldorado

Hello mrsalbert, my name is JShreader. Thank you for choosing

Depending on which oxygen sensor you are looking for...there are several of them throughout the Exhaust System. I will start out by giving you a brief description of what and oxygen sensor is, and they're general purpose.

Four Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) are mounted in the exhaust system where they monitor the oxygen content in the exhaust stream. There is an oxygen sensor mounted in each exhaust manifold and one on each end of the catalytic converter. the oxygen sensor located in the front exhaust manifold is the Bank 2 Sensor 1 (Front) sensor. The oxygen sensor located in the rear exhaust manifold is the Bank 1 Sensor 1 (Rear) sensor. The oxygen sensor located in the Y-pipe ahead of the catalytic converter is the Bank 1 Sensor 2 (Pre-converter) sensor. The oxygen sensor located in the catalytic converter outlet is the Bank 1 Sensor 3 (Post-converter) sensor.

An oxygen sensor acts like a battery because it creates its own signal voltage once it reaches operating temperature. This voltage is produced when the oxygen content in the exhaust stream is different than the oxygen content in the atmosphere. A lean condition (high oxygen content in exhaust) will produce a low voltage (near 0 volts) and a rich condition (low oxygen content in exhaust) will produce a high voltage (near one volt). The PCM provides a reference signal voltage (0.45 volt) and a ground to the sensor. The PCM reference voltage is necessary because the oxygen sensors do not provide their own voltage until they reach operating temperature.

the oxygen sensors also incorporate a heating element inside of the sensor housing. This heating element is energized with the ignition On and allows the sensors to reach operating temperatures quickly. The PCM can then use oxygen sensor information sooner after engine start-up.

The PCM uses oxygen sensor information during Closed Loop operation to constantly adjust fuel control to reduce exhaust emissions. Because the oxygen sensors provide information sooner after engine start-up, exhaust emissions are reduced. Faulty oxygen sensors will cause various driveability conditions and will set a DTC.

That being said...I uploaded a .pdf for you of pictures showing the locations of ALL the oxygen Sensors on your Vehicle. You can download it by clicking HERE.

I hope this helps you. If you have any more questions or need any more diagrams, please don't hesitate to ask...Thanks again, JShreader!
