We have been experiencing same faults on a 2005 Expedition, with engine stopping and the message "Check electronic throttle". Ifirst went to AutoZone and they read the codes. They suggested replacing thethrottle sensor (TPS), which we did, but car stopped again. We had to replacethe battery in a month and this is the fix. The battery was almost 6 years oldand when you first start your engine, it sucks too much load and gives thesefaults to the computer. It never stopped since then (3 mo already). Sometimeswe use to get the message 3 times a day.
Go to an Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan of your Ford. The onboard memory may have some information and the parts guys can help you get straightened out on this. You could have a loose connection to the TPS which is your throttle control switch. It would be on the drivers side attached to the Airhorn. It's about a 20 minute job to change if you want to replace that part.
?€¢
Limited throttle mode--The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control; however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
?€¢
Throttle default mode--The ECM will turn off the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
?€¢
Forced idle mode--The ECM will perform the following actions:
-
Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the throttle position, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned off.
-
Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
?€¢
Engine shutdown mode--The ECM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.
