As long as you disconnect the battery.. you will be fine.. but make sure you have brake lights.. check your state laws concerning towing behind an RV.. some require the brake lights on the towed vehicle to work (or have optional brake lights)..remember..its YOUR car and YOUR RV... SAFETY FIRST!

Buy a manual. You will need it to replace all the screws and bolts you have to take out. A manual($25) is nothing compared to the $900 you would have to pay a shop to do it.
It is located under the air cleaner/Filter on the driver's side, under the hood, near the front. Remove the filter and the filter plastic case. I has two or three screws. I believe they are 1/2". You have to look closely to find the one near the front and will have to have an extension rod for a 3/8' drive. When you remove the case you will see it. It has one or two plastic vacuum lines running to it. The lines are quick disconnect and have to be pushed in and the flange around the line will have to be held in and then pull the line out. you should have no problem, that is not a heavy car, but you should check the specs on the RV to be sure-most RV.s have no problem towing vehicles up to 3500 lbs, and a GTI is about 2800 tops
