Lot of different things can cause low coolant or loss of coolant problems, radiater could be leaking intake gasket could be leaking etc.. etc... the best way to find a leak as long as its external is with a pressure tester, to find internal leaks you need a unit that goes on top off the radiator while its running the chemicals in the jar will turn a purple color with the pressence of exhaust gasses in coolant if the color changes you still have to tearotor down to varify problem

the cylinder head gasket is failing- antifreeze is being sucked into combustion chamber and burning-thus the white smoke- sorry- you need to have heads planned and new head gaskets installed- cheers Denny

My 2003 galant is leaking antifreeze onto my transmission resivior, trouble shoot?

This could be a cracked tank for your radiator filler. Try placing a clean paper towel under the antifreeze tank and fill it with coolant. If there is a crack in the tank you will see it or the results of it. Replace the antifreeze tank - these things get cracked when people put water in the tank instead of mixed water and antifreeze. You get a hard freeze and bingo - your coolant tank breaks - usually on a seam and underneath it where you can't easily see it.

Why is my car dripping antifreeze underneath and running out of water?

check whether you have a water pump leak, radiator leak or any hoses leaking.

The antifreeze level is too low, there is no liquid in the plastic tank, but radiator is full. Can I add some distilled water (to the MAX line) until sometime next week will flush the system and put in...

Yes you can add water to the max line when the engine is hot or to the other line when it's cold. It's not unusual to loose coolant over time. You can usually find another brand that qualifies for the manufacturers brand. You can get an auto supply store to help select it. Some manufacturers don't recommend an antifreeze with silca as it can damage the water pump.

Northstar loses a qt of antifreeze every week. No drips leaks seen anywhere. Oil level is ok and water free.

Most likely the Northstar engine has a failed head gasket. These are notorious for this.Take to a reptuable shop and have vehicle block tested. If they dont know what you are talking about,go to another till you find one that does.

Antifreeze leaking

it's possible the gasket was not seated properly... or there is a small hose in the back.... it's likely you'll need to put it on a lift and look at it from below to see.... just look for a lime green colour fluid.
