Question about 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor

1 Answer

Rough idle Last night I started my 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor (83,000 miles) and the engine would not idle smoothly. It will oscillate from about 300 to 500 rpm before stabilizing @ 500 rpm or stalling. Idle "seems" to be a little low. This is a constant problem now. It will run smoothly after I get it stabilized at idle. But idle seems to be a problem. I am trouble shooting fuel and or timing. Thoughts?

I took mine in to change the plugs and they said there are four O2 sensors in the fuel mixture system and two were bad. I didn't replace them since they were a little pricey ($500 to replace both) and I have 103,000 on the car. Has very similar roughness and occasional oscillations, but no stalling. Hope this helps.

Am having the same problem after having replaced the battery, and then alternator. Any suggestions on what to look at next?

2004 mitsubishi endeavor speedometer, tachometer and temp gauge are all not working. how could I fix it?

Hi, I would think it either has a blown fuse or more likely would need a replacement instrument panel installed. Could be $100 to $300 used for the part depending on where you get it. Installing it would probably be 1 or 2 hours labor if you do not know how to.

Changed water pump & timing belt last night. Car ran fine at idle and test drive. Wife went on errands this morning and after the last stop. Car would not re-start. Could the timing belt skip a tooth...

Just a thought that the belt could slip if the tensioner did not locate properly. Seems too coincidental that it is not related to the timing belt.

2005 Mitsu Endeavor p0506 Idle Air control.

Idle air control is not a sensor on the air horn. Why do people who have no clue bother answering? The idle speed is controled by the throttle body which allows a specific amount of air to flow into the engine thus controlling your idle speed. In this application it is an integral aspect of your throttle body. Check your throttle body for contamination. Check your wire harness connecters.

how many miles were on it when you got it? it could be the throttle position sensor. go to an auto parts store like autozone or advanced auto parts and have them run a scanner , no cost , to see if there is a code to verify this. if this helps please reply as this helps me answer your questions here and good luck

2004 endeavor stalls and won't start. If I wait a while I can start and drive it again. Doesn't seem to have any pattern on when it will stall again.

How many miles? What grade fuel are you using? Have you ensured your air filter is clean? Do you get a check engine light? If so, have you taken it to autozone to pull the codes for free?

V6 engine idles rough after restarting, then smooths out

My first guess would be a dirty carb/fuel injector set. Run some fuel cleaner through the tank and see if it gets better. You might have to do it through a couple of tanksful. How long since you've had a tune-up? It might just be that time.
