1997 dodge stratus 2.4 motor, oil pressure light comes on after the car warms up (15 mins) but when I accelerate the light goes off. Checked oil level at max. Car is not over heating. Respond as usual when driving.

Someone told me this might be an oil sending unit problem?

Its on the rear of the block, driver side, about halfway up --- behind and practically entangled with the harness.

A better question: How do you remove the connector?

I'm trying to locate the oil sending unit on a 2001 plymouth neon

How many miles on the car? I recommend hooking up a direct reading oil pressure guage. Oil level is not the only factor on oil pressure. As an engine ages, clearances and bearings wear and the pressure falls. Using too thin oil can result in low pressure.

In my experience with neon's the sending unit is most likely not the problem. I feel that you will find that the oil pressure is actually low and that the oil pump is going out. If you change the sending unit and it doesn't change then you will know for sure. The sending unit is located on the side of the block near the oil filter. It has one wire and simply unscrews and the new one screws back in and re-attach the wire. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Pull the connector off the oil sending unit and look to see if there is any oil in the connector and see if any is in the sending unit were the connector plug into it. If there is replace the sending unit. It should be dry and free of oil. Also go to the parts store and get something called brake cleaner to clean the oil out of the connector.
