I had a 1994 Dodge Ram. The Red Dodge Ram I had it malfunctioned and my brake became the throttle. I had to put the truck in reverse then park. to stop, after it was out of control at 80 mph a hill slowed us down. Are you sure its not electrical and the curse control is not giving you trouble? Mine had multifunction switch was not working and the headlight switch burned up. I also found out that Audi had problem with the brake becoming the throttle in the 1980s Daimler Chrysler and Audi were German made. I don't think there is an easy answer. I hope you stay safe. Another man is having strange trouble also. I'm sure there are many more people with trouble with the vehicles. I wish Dodge would step up to the truth. and recall their nightmares. I saw many of their 1996 Dodge trucks at their dealers shop with all the electrical pulled out.

I would turn the a/c on,the cooling fan should also come on if not the fan relay could be bad or the fan motor. The water pump could also be your problem.

I have a 2005 dodge durango that's over heating.

The basic answer is not enough coolant flow or not enough air flow thru the radiator. You'll have to find out if the coolant is flowing when the thermostat is open, is the system full of fluid, and is there enough air flow thru the radiator.
Does it get over 220 degrees if you are moving and at idle too ?

When you fill the radiator, did you make sure the car heater was set to Full Hot? If not, there could be an airlock in the water system. This can give the symptoms you describe.

Sounds like you are having a problem with your radiator not holding the pressure that it needs to so it overheats. I would say give your cooling system a thorough cleaning, if that doesnt solve it then a new radiator is in store.

Heating problem

If you changed the thermostat yourself and have noted that the lower radiator hose is cooler than the upper radiator hose, you may have installed the thermostat incorrectly or have purchased a faulty thermostat. A lower radiator hose that does not get hot (or as hot as the upper radiator hose) is a direct indication of a faulty thermostat. Please vote for this solution if you found this to be helpful. Have a 2001 Dodge Durango. Temp is hot, coolant is cold. Replaced thermostat still running hot 2001 durango stuck in 4 wheel drive. 2 wheel drive blinks

If you havent already, leave the radiator cap off of your radiator while you start the vehicle. Be sure the engine is cold, you could get hurt if not because the coolant will build up pressure. If the cap is off, no pressure will build. Wait a while for the vehicle to heat up, look in the opening, and see if the coolant is flowing. If so, could be a bad fan, or gummed up radiator......if NOT your turbine on your water pump could be bad, OR, by chance, the thermostat is not working.

THEROMSTAT/ 2002 DODGE DURANGO???

make sure engine is cool then drain coolant by opening the drain plug at bottom of radiator. remove cap from radiator so coolant will continue to drain and when coolant is down enough to pull off upper radiator hose at intake then close drain, then remove two bolts at coolant housing and remove thermostate. clean gasket material from intake and housing and replace with new gasket and thermostate tighten bolts install hose fill rad with coolant water mix 50/50 and run engine with heat on floor until gets hot and you see coolant flowing in rad, install cap
