The other windows work fine. Could sand in the button effect it?

  • kimb234 Aug 02, 2008

I have same problem with '04 V40. It has happened 3 times with driver's window. Other two times it eventually worked and was able to close the window. This time, no such luck. Other windows work, all other electrical works, and this was an intermittent problem. Any suggestions outside of taking it to Volvo and handing them my credit card would be great!

I too have the same problem with my passenger side window. I've checked the switch. I can lower the window from the driver side switch but can not raise it from that switch. Is the problem with the motor or the relay? Or how can I manually put the window back up?

    Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This is typical type of problems with all cars wiring loom that passes through to doors. You get a broken wire due to hardning of plastic insulation on the wire & the cable fractures. You do get switches as well but I would say 90% of the time is wiring loom.

Yes it can. From the drivers door remove the wires to the drivers window and swap them to another switch to see if thats your problem.
