94 chev. Cavalier 4 cyl. auto. Had problems with key stuck in ignition. Now key comes out, car starts, sometimes is fine, other times shuts right off. Many times dash idiot lights go crazy while running. Need new ignition switch??? How much should it cost to have it done?

check all efi and ign fuses first...then check pickup coil and ignition coil in distributor w/ ohm meter...since you already replace the ignitor, then mostly likely it's the pickup coil or ignition coil...buy the whole
sounds like an internal problem with the ignition switch lock cylinder. something may have happened to one of the tumblers inside. since the key can not be turned the safety lock will not let the shifter come out of gear and as far as the remote starting goes. the car shutting off when you push the brake is a safety/anti-theft system. i would recomend a visit to your local gm dealer. they can possibly fix your lock cyl or get you one keyed for you car so your original key still operates everything. you can also get them at an aftermarket parts store or salvage yard but then you will have different keys for you locks and your ignition. hope this is of help to you
Yes, it sounds like your solenoid is bad and staying engaged against the flywheel, you could do an amperage draw and a voltage drop test to find out for sure, but you will need an DVOM and a amp clamp. Or you could take it into an auto parts store and they will test it for free. Hope this helps.
the pcm may have a cracked board, i had an 88 cavalier z24 with the same problem, replced the ecu and it ran fine, the problem is that the boards inside the pcm crack and lose connection, the next time it acts up open the glove box and try tapping on the pcm, if the car responds at all, the pcm is bad
94-97 accord have common issue on key ignition. Key ignition seems to corroded. Solution take it apart clean or best way is to replace it. I know because I have done it to 94 accord 4 cylinders, 95 accord 6 cylinders and 97 accord 4 cylinders.
If the car starts and dies right away you may have a pass key sensor fault.
Try to start the car,if the car dies right away just leave the key on and watch the security light in the insturment panel,if it begins to blink leave the key on until it stops blinking (apx 10 mins.) this will reprogram the pass lock to the pcm and may solve all your problems.if the car continues to die after running a min or so then you may have other faults,or if the car dies right after start the pass lock sensor may need to be replaced.
warm your car up to temperture. Grab the upper rediator hose. Is it warm or cool. If its cool your thermosat is stuck closed and thats why you have no heat. If that works fine I would look at your heater core next.
