Sounds like you may have a shorted door sensor. Start at the driver door unplug the sensor wait about a minuteto see if the lights go out. If not check the next door.
you have a bad door switch on one of the doors or liftgate. Look for push switch button where doors close on door opening. Open onedoor at a time and push button by hand and see if the lights go out. When you find the one that turns the light off, either adjust it, shim it or stick a cabinet door bumper on the soor so it psuhes the switch shut.
one of your door latch assembly is showing the door ajar, you will need to take it to Ford when it is raining and light is on for them to tell you which assembly is at fault
This is a very common problem with Fords. I have one that was doing this as well. What works for most people is pretty much what you have tried - spraying inside the latch all over with WD40 Until it's coming out the bottom of the door. If this fails to work, the switch probably needs replaced. The switch is located inside the door near the latch. It should be pretty easy to find once you have the door panel off. Look for the wires leading to it.
A new switch is usually very inexpensive, but may have to be purchased through your local Ford dealer.
If you're not comfortable taking the door panel off, a mechanic should be able to do this repair for you in less than an hour of shop time.
Take some WD40 and open the doors and spray a liberal amount into each of the door latches. Then open and close the doors firmly several times. This will work most of the time to unstick the ajar switches.
