Ser.eng.soon flashes code 34 MAP sensor

My vin# 8th digit is 3 calling for 3.8L V6 MFI engine. Under the hood,intake emblem of V6 SFI. Parts store shows no MAP sensor for this yr and make. The fuel rail has the fuel regulator attached to the side of the rail at the same end where the return line leaves the fuel rail. Can't figure out what type of engine is. 2.8? 3.1? 3.8? Also why a code 34 is pulled without a MAP sensor. While driving SES light comes on engine begins chug than stalls out. Pop in netruel turn key engine starts back up, idles fine for a short while then repeats. Only feathering the acc. petal seem to keep it from stalling. Loosing my mind. Please contact for more info. cedarcase@msn.com Thanks

A code 34 calls attention to the MAF sensor, not a MAP sensor. Try changing that out, first. You might also be having problems with your ignition control module.

Chevy motor vin vo71423a what size is it

I don't recognize that. The engine code is the 8th digit in the vehicle vin. Find that letter or number, then ask any parts store or Gm dealer what engine the code represents. The engine size should also be shown on the Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) label or sticker under the hood, the long white rectangular sticker.

Can you tell me the location of code reader 1991 capri ?

1991 is pre-OBD2. code readers will not work.
sorry.
however, all is not lost. Many cars have an alternate way of reading codes from the computer.
Toyota has a block under the hood and you short couple wires together and count engine light flashes
Chrysler you can turn the ignition key on and off a few times and count engine light flashes
in your case for GMs from 1982 to 1995
1: find the 12 pin connector under the dash and short the upper two rightmost terminals.
with the ignition "ON" and engine not running. The system will enter the diagnostic mode. In this mode, the computer will display a Code 12, three consecutive times, by flashing the "CHECK ENGINE", "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" or "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP" or light. A Code 12 consists of one flash, a short pause, then two flashes in rapid succession.
2:. After Code 12 is displayed, any stored trouble codes will be displayed by flashing the "CHECK ENGINE", "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" or "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP" light. All codes are displayed 3 times each then a code 12 will repeat. In the diagnostic mode, the computer will also energize all computer controlled relays and solenoids.

How can you tell what type of transmission is in my 1998 chevy malibu

Whether your Malibu is:
(a) 4 cylinder 2.4L SFI DOHC Vin "T", or
(b) 6 cylinder 3.1L SFI OHV Vin "M"

SFI = fuel injected
DOHC = dual overhead camshaft
OHV = overhead valves
Vin = 17-digit unique car identifier - the 8th digit identifies the engine (not the transmission), and
as you can see, your engine will be identified by the 8th digit = "T" or "M"

your car has the Chevrolet 4T40E automatic transmission (aka "automatic transaxle")
Here are some specifications:

Where is the engine number located on a ford mustang engine 6cyl 2001?

For 2001 Ford Mustang 3.8L SFI 6cyl engine, with which your specific vehicle is equipped, can be most easily identified by the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), located on either the VIN tag, mounted in the upper left-hand corner of the instrument panel, or on the vehicle certification label, located on the driver-s side door pillar. The engine identifying code is the 8th digit of the VIN. The engine VIN codes are as follows:

FIG: Engine identification codes may also be found on a label affixed to the left side rocker arm cover

4-3.8L SFI (OHV) engine N-4.0L SFI (SOHC) engine H-4.6L SFI (SOHC) engine V-4.6L SFI (DOHC) engine
X-4.6L SFI (SOHC) engine

Hope helps.

Looking for correct engine size to order parts

This year and make car came with 4 diffrent engines,the way to know which engine you have is to locate the decal under the hood or the easy way for you is get your vin# (id #) this number is on your reg, your insurance card and your title, if you look at that number and count from left to right to the 8th digit, this letter will tell you your engine size, here are the definitions for the digit, if the 8th digit is a X = 2.4 eng with DOHC (DOHC = dual overhead cams).
if its a G = 2.4 eng with SOHC (SOHC = single overhead cam)
if it a R or T = 2.7 engine
if its a H = 3.0 engine. this is easy with the vin #. remember count to the 8 th digit from left to right. For example 548gk36r t698 if this was your vin the 8th digit would be a R, so you would tell the parts place you have a 2.7 engine. hope this helps.

Looking for o2 sensor on 02 accord

Yes this will work if it says direct fit oe replacement and not universal. The universal replacements never work because you have to cut the plug off of your and wire it on the new one. The Engine code is the 8th character of the vin. You can also look under the hood on the engine label and get the code there.
