Question about 2003 Saab 9-3

I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 Linear that will not start. The display panel states the the key is not accepted as well there is immobilizer failure. What do you think the problem is and how much damage will there be? Please give me some guidance. Saab42

I had the same problem, I disconnectd the battery overnite and it reset the computer.

You may already know but in case you are not original owner. There was a recall of Saab 2003 9-3 keys (in 2004 I believe). They replaced keys because of this problem.

Need to reset the airbag malfunction message and the one on the display, was in a minor crash and bag went off now been replaced but still displays have tried resetting by taking negative lead off??

You will need to find a good automotive locksmith to recode the key. Or try spare key if you have one.

Our saab was driving fine, we parked and went shopping after an hour came out and it wont start. Replaced the battery and it still wont start. It is a manual so we are able to pop the clutch and it...


Sounds like an immobilizer/alarm issue...only way to properly diagnose is with a Saab factory scan tool...unfortunately..
Try another key if you have one....also lock and unlock the vehicle a few times with the key fob...or door key to insure the alarm/immobilizer has been turned off.

I have a Saab 2.2tid linear (2003). the central locking system has just stopped working completely, there was no warning to suggest its the battery in the key.. before it stopped working altogether it used...


THE SAAB 9 -3 REMOTE BATTERY HAS TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED AT THE DEALERSHIP.THE SAAB 9 - 5 YOU COULD REPLACE REMOTE BATTERY AND REPROGRAM OR SYNCHRONIZATION BY PRESSING REMOTE KEY BUTTON UNLOCK BUTTON AT LEAST 4 TIMES TO REPROGRAM KEY REMOTE TRANSMITTER.

From what I can tell, this relates to the fuel vapor recovery system and can be caused by a defective or loose gas cap.

My car has an immobilizer failure reading and will not start or even turn over when I put the key in the ignition. What's the deal? Dead battery? I tried the spare key with no luck


I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 and had then same thing happen and my battery cable just was not connected good enough. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my saab 93, and it turned out to be the air con pump which set me back £250 plus labour.
