Obviously can be one of a very large number of problems. If there are no trouble codes (DTCs), still could be a possible fuel delivery system (fuel pump, filter, regulator, throttle body) or ignition problem. I would start by checking the fuel pressure carefully - too high or low will cause this. Also the coil pack can fail without a trouble code - check for spark at a plug.
The symptoms sound very similar to when the antitheft system locks out the starter. "Runs for 5 seconds or less, then stalls". "Starter not working, but still turns over when jumped at the stater" Maybe read thru this link and see if this sounds like what you are experiencing. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
There is a ground junction under the carpet just inside the driver's door. Pull the trim panel at the bottom of the door jam and pull the carpet back. There is a black plastic connector with several black wires going into it and bolted to the body. This connector get corroded over time and many circuits lose ground. Simply take that connector apart and clean it, or cut the wires off individually and install new ring terminals and install back on the body.
Happens all the time!
Well to start off the fuel pump is in the gas tank. Do you need to replace the fuel or water pump? The water pump is on the engine. Im assuming you have a 3800? If you go to the Library and check out a chiltons manual it will walk you thru the procedure for water pump R&R.
